IMPROVED! New Fantasy World Campaign Setting!

Post by seskis281 »

Some out there from my visits on ENWorld sites might be aware that I have been developing a World Setting, designed primarily for use with C&C, called Ilshara: The Lands of Exile.

I also queried on whether or not Troll Lord Games is interested in publishing new settings, but I am proceeding under the probability that I need to self-publish this material as a free resource to my fellow C&C enthusiasts. I naturally invite the good people at Trolls to check my work out here as well.

I have set up my website, and while it's still under construction and will be a few weeks before I finish tackling the problems of converting my large maps to pdf I'd love for people to check out the teasers of information and pictures for the time being!

The website is: http://johnwright281.tripod.com/

Please check it out and let me know what you think!

Sincerely,

John William Wright

That does look quite nice. I had tinkered with the idea of submitting my campaign setting (starting as a series of adventures that branches out), but decided to go with the pbp game here instead. I am using my setting for a non-game endeavor that I would rather focus on than an rpg supplement.

Wow! I can definitely get into the city of Jendar if that map is any indiciation!
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.
Sounds obvious to me! -Gm Michael

I've only skimmed what you wrote, but it looks like a nicely detailed history. And those maps are great! Can't wait to read it in more detail and to see what else you have for us

I've gone ahead and added more detailed pics and put the Gazetteer as it is now on the website to allow those who wanted to see more to do so.

Still gotta lot of work to do, this is still a preview site as far as the finished project goes.

Check it out - there's a lot more here now.

Scary as it may seem, this has been a recent project. I'm a university theatre director so during the year I work like from 9 in morning till around 10 at night. But this summer my wife had to have surgery, so I've been at home for like three weeks straight taking care of her - and this was my project. I actually started around the end of June after perusing some campaign books at LGS, and chatting a bit online and it got me to realize that I hadn't found a setting I really liked since Greyhawk... so I thought to myself "What would I want?" It rolled from there - I drew several small pencil maps of possible continents, and then did the big maps actually over a friday night and saturday morning. The rest has come over the last three weeks.

I've talked with the guys on Dragonsfoot and once I get everything snazzied up and in pdf form it should be available for download there as well as on my site.

Thanks so much for checking Ilshara out!

Three weeks! Judging from the maps and all the info thus far, I would have thought this was an evolving campaign setting years in the making.

Now I'm even more impressed with your work.

Oh to be fair there are many small parts, areas, names and ideas that come from several different campaigns previously. Suranista, Windmar and Hunovia are taken from an earlier homebrew world called Zarthos which was a post-apocalyptic world where people had managed to scrape their way back up to medieval level, while Xanadar, Nevara Setalix and the Freeholds are lifted and transported from an alternate Greyhawk world of mine. The overall history, emphasis and everything else is brand new.
