OK, I've just recently discovered B/X (or BECMX) D&D, via the Rules Cyclopedia.
I played the old BD&D box from '79 as a kid (10-11 years old), but quickly moved on to AD&D (thinking it was just an introduction to AD&D). I never heard of B/X D&D/BECMX D&D/RC, as my circle of school friends only played AD&D.
I'm really liking the (relative) simplicity of the RC, compared to the stereo instruction-like rules of AD&D. I also feel that B/X is a good fit for C&C.
I know that C&C is more based off of AD&D than B/X as written. Has anyone tried to "Cyclopediaize" C&C yet??
As I see it, there would only be a few changes to it:
Tweeking the classes/races:
Fighter: change to d8. Change Weapon Specialization to 1st, 3rd, 6th, 9th, and 12th levels, with each giving a +1 hit/damage and +1 AC.
Cleric: change to d6. Change spell progression.
Magic-User: Change spell progresssion.
Thief: Change to d4.
Dwarf: combine the racial and fighter class abilities. d8. cap at 12th level.
Elf: combine the racial/fighter and M-U class abilities. d6. cap at 10th.
Halfling: d6. combine the racial/fighter abilities. cap at 8th level.
Use the RC (B/X) experience charts
Use the B/X spell descriptions or reorganize the C&C spells in to B/X order.
B/X suffers from the same issues as OD&D and AD&D: you need a gazillion charts (AC/To Hit, Saving Throws, etc). With the SIEGE engine and BtH a B/X-RC conversion simplifies the game amazingly so.
Just wondering if anyone had made such a conversion, and how it worked out?

Actually, I have a 60-ish page pdf file of C&C/OD&D/RC houserules. I'd be glad to send it to you by email.
Your suggestions were:

I changed all the HD, spell progressions, and spell lists (with some editing) to those found in the RC. I also use the RC weapon mastery tables, slightly edited. I use the RC experience table, but race is completely separate from class, and there are no demihuman level limits.
