Firefox and TrollLords

Post by LordSeurek »

For some reason, I am unable to log in to TL using Firefox, but I can using Internet Explorer. Any computer wizards out there can tell me why?

I only started having this problem today, its always worked on Firefox before.

Rob.

I had the same problem earlier. Then I signed in to my PM directly, rather than the message boards, and it worked fine. I am using Firefox now.

You might want to try "clear private data" under tools. That'll clear out cache, cookies and authenticated sessions.

The close and open browser and try again.

That did it, thanks Rhu.

I think you're on a MAC, yes? Might be some slightly different isYews (as those English fellows say).

You can set Firefox to purge cookies every time you close the browser (it's under Tools/Options/Privacy). This is what I do, and it seems to help a lot.

Of course, I'm not running Firefox on a Mac either ...

Good luck,

I have mine set to automatically delete them when I close the browser as well, but it was no dice. I'm at work with Firefox on an iMac.

I had to go to Firefox>Preferences>Security and manually hit the "Clear Private Data Now" button. Seems to have worked (obviously, since I'm posting). Guess I'll have to do the same thing when I get home!

You can also set Firefox to automatically clear all your private data whenever you close the browser. There's a checkbox under Toos/Options/Privacy which you can select. Maybe that will do it for you, Jay?

If it helps to know, I'm running the latest version of Firefox I'm aware of (v. 2.0.0.13) on a PC.

Good Luck,

TheNewGuy

Yeah, I've got it set to do that: Automatically clear everything out every time I close the browser. No use having the boss come in to use my computer and having the TLG boards come up by accident.
I actually went in and manually deleted all of the freeabb cookies and it still didn't work. The only thing that did the trick was to open the Preferences and manually hit that old "Clear Private Data" button. Black magic voodoo! Steve Jobs is a witch! Burrrrrrrn!

It's all good now though

I just noticed that blurb at the top of the page regarding a new URL. Probably caused some issues. I usually clear cache and cookies regularly so didn't notice anything.

I find that bypassing automatic cookie handling clears 99% of these issues. Just set the website to allow session cookies only. That way, as long as the browser is open, and you log in, you're logged in. Close the browser, and nothing is "saved" and nothing needs to be deleted.
