Crusader #8

Post by cuchulainkevin »

I just picked up my copy from the mailbox and it looks great. Jim Ward and Liz Stewart produced the most professional looking Crusader yet.

Maybe I can expect to see one sometime in the far near. Sounds good. I have much faith that Jim will bring Crusader to professional standards (not that it wasn't before... necessarily.)

Got mine today too. I posted my thoughts in the General forum though.

I will say here that I really enjoyed the articles by a Robert Doyle and a fellow named Mike Stewart.

Plus I did enjoy Casey's take on world building and I thought Davis' advice on "role playing the monsters and NPC's was spot on.

The issue was too lite for my tastes, but a good issue none-the-less.

If nothing else, the author's pictures are ALOT clearer.

There was, however, no Robert Doyel picture.

What's up with that Mystery Man?

If Liz needs some info on a short cut that saves a lot of work on table formatting, have her give me a buzz

Quick question Mike,

under the Magic table column it says "Special= upon this roll, the Player may choose which item table they wish to roll on"

I assume that means the magic table in the article and not the M&T treasure tables, correct?

BTW, I think this will be a very useful article for me.

I got mine too. Great looking cover. I paged through it briefly and can't wait to get started reading it.

Hrrm, maybe not to the magazine...but certainly to the product line.

Besides, on a whole, rpger's may not be the most dashingly handsome of folks at times (one notable exception to that rule being Mike Stewart's wife Liz), but it's still nice to put a face to a name.

It was great meeting a few of the DF/TLG members at LGGC and Gary's funeral (even under the very sad circumstances)

If nothing else it might get ya a free beer at a convention.

Heh, well, to be honest: 1) I was not asked for a picture, so I did not provide one (there is one on the TLG company page, though), and 2) I don't drink beer.

Hey that might work out for all of us then.

We'll ask you to sign our M&Ts and then let you buy us beer at Fat Cats!!

Truth is, I'm not much of a drinker myself these days.

Anyhow, it'd still be nice to shake your hand and tell ya you did a good job on M&T and Engineering Dungeons.

I have seen Serl's picture. Think of a big black furred humanoid with his hair shaved around his eyes, upper cheeks and mouth, and you pretty much know what he looks like. At least at the time of his picture. His fiance may have made him humanize himself a bit more since then.
BTW, I HATE beer. I am a hard liquor drinker myself. Even so, I don't drink often, and only until I feel a buzz.

Woohoo! Had a copy in my mailbox after I finally checked.

Oh, and by now, I look more like Cousin It. Only, darker in color... more like black, but that's my natural hair color.

Let me know how it works out? Actually, it is referring to the tables for stated items in M&T as I didn't give a detailed table for Magic Items in that article. Or Liz slipped one in and didn't tell me.
Oh, and I'll let her know that a shortcut is possible Peter. Though I suspect she might hit me just on general principles.

You have NO idea how many hoops I went through to get the contributor's pics that DID appear! Mike was easy; I know where he lives, after all... I had to get Casey's pic from Dungeon Delver, and wound up just cribbing Gary's photo from the pdf version of the last issue of Crusader.

I'm hoping to do a better job with Issue 9, and maybe I'll actually get a photo of Steve by then! (hint, hint Steve...)

As a new subscriber (I live too far from any game store now), I was very pleased to see my copy in the mailbox. I am looking forward to reading it and to the regular distribution of Crusaders under Mr. Ward.

Just a tip to make life easier. Any text needing to be set in columns just needs one tab space between each column. One can select the text and hit 'create table'.

I also find it useful to set any text in tables too a smaller font size than the text in general. Beyond that, one can get into the table settings themselves and fiddle with the interior borders a bit.

Then that is "special". I like it.

I think I'm going to suggest a run at Tomb of Horrors using your method. I'm not mean enough to use it with the characters that my players have home grown.

Too soft, I know. It'll be fun to be a killer DM for a night.

I'm sure Davis has some doozies. Whether Steve would want them in Crusader is another matter.

Actually, I did use the "create table" command quite a lot! However (not to get on Sieg's case here...much...), several of Sieg's tables were not correctly "tabbed". Sometimes there were two tab spaces, or the whole column was tabbed differently from the one above or below, so I had to do a lot of clean-up work on his table info before I could use the "create table" command. Since I know he can't see how it looks as he's doing it, I don't seriously get annoyed at him, but I can't help but rib him a little just for fun!
I still love you, Sieg!!!
