Here is a "pencil" sketch done on Artrage 2. I like Artrage 2 because it emulates real paint, chalk, pencil, etc and you can choose the surface texture you are drawing on.

Here is a potential module cover for my adventure "Queen of Thorns"; bear in mind this is a work in progress and is not finished. But here it is so far.

This was a sketch scanned into Artrage 2, painted in there, and then recently moved to photoshop. Somehow some weird stuff happened in the process, like a layer or two not being there. Anyhow, I will repost when it is finished, if you care to see it.

First time posting here....the name is Brian and since I doodle, I figured putting up some art is a good way to make introductions. I've always doodled but Fantasy is my favorite subject....especially old school stuff.

Here's a dwarf hiding from a couple of orcs in a swamp...

And this is one I did back in 99' of an adventuring party with the good king and evil lord behind them....sorry for the blurry photo, this one was too big to go in my scanner...

Anyways, cool site....I'll check in from time to time. Cheers.

Much appreciated....thanks for the kind words.

I'm currently working on 3 different pictures at the same time and attack which ever one suits my fancy that particular day. One is of a Lich fighting a party down in some ruins, another is a halfling being surprised by a hag in a swamp and then the final one is an acrylic painting of a party attacking a "Grick" coming out of a grassy embankment next to a downed tree.

I'll stick my head back in with some more drawings soon. Thanks again.

Love the old school orcs and the halfling with the, "oh crap" look on his face! What medium did you use? Watercolors?

I actually used a tray of cheap Crayola temperas, like kids use. Tempera is basically the same as gouache, with a smaller price tag and a less-fancy name. Kind of how "glicee" is a fancy-pants name for "inkjet".

It's nice because they can be transparent like watercolors or opaque like acrylics, depending on how you load the brush. For instance, the solid black of the tunnel is the same medium as the "wash" on the rest of the painting - there's just more pigment in the bristles. They're also nice and matte when they dry.

It was also fun to paint a fat hobbit. Nuts to 3e and Peter Jackson for perpetuation of the slender and svelte halfling. Here's to 6 meals a day! Up with second-breakfast and elevensies! Huzzah!

No doubt! I must admit, I've been guilty of a svelt halfling here and there in my doodles, but I whole heartedly agree with you......classic halfings means pudgy halflings!

In all honesty, I've probably been more influenced by the Bass/Rankin Jr. version of a halfing from "The Hobbit" animated movie than from any other source. I guess first impressions are a powerful thing when you're a kid.
