heat metal

Post by Wulfgarn »

ok this spell is incredibly powerful--- there is no Save and no SR for it.

THe question I have is that it is a little vague as to the condidtion of the victm after round 3.

My Questions are- 1- when is someone "Disabled" and what exactly does Disabled mean

also can you explain this to me please

Victm of the spell is wearing Splint mail armor. When do they become disabled (round 3 or 4 or 5 )

also there is a misprint - the duration of the "Disability" is actually longer the higher the constitution of the victm is ....

So, that is fairly obvious: on round 3 of the 7 round spell, the victim basically gets screwed. They start to suffer intense agony (cannot use their hands and likely fall over due to exhaustion/hypothermia) taking 2d4 damage - they also cannot wield weapons or shields (and cannot cast somatic spells) and so forth because the hands are unusable. This is horrendous. Don't wear lots of metal when this is thrown at you, or get it the hell off before round 3!

Round three, carried over to round 4, and then 5, and then a lingering bit of it (the non-damaging part) for X days.

Yes, it should be (or, rather, as I would do it): a number of days equal to 5 - Constitution modifier.

All in all, heat metal is not your friend, fighters (and clerics.)

Druids rock too much kielbasa.
