TLG 2008

Post by Treebore »

Some interesting things coming up. All talked about in Crusader #9 page 27.

Essential Places has been assigned to M. Stewart and C. Canfield.

Lejendary Pantheons is awaiting artwork for specific chapters.

LA Rules for all Players should have premiered this weekend at the LGGC.

The Weyland Smith Catalog, By EGG and C. Christofferson, I think. It is apparently a spells and magic type book.

The Castellan Guide series of books by M. Stewart, starting with "Arms and Armor" will be out.

Work on M&T II and Monsters and Treasures of Airhde as well as work on the CKG continues. Once enough of all these projects wrap up work on the "Adventurers Backpack" will start again.

Plus it is announced that "we'll probably be heading towards a 4th printing on the PH".

Sounds like a great year for TLG! Assuming everything that is supposed to be happening this year happens.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

This is going to be an interesting year for gaming...and a hard year on my wallet.

My impression was that the Weyland Smith Catalog was going to be sort of a spoof Sears & Roebuck catalog full of wacky magical items and such.

Like Aurora's Whole Realms Catalogue?

That'd be cool.

I concur. I hope that is what it ends up being.

Is this something Hekaforge might be doing and TLG is releasing?

Definitely some cool stuff on the anvil for 2008.

The Arms & Armor and Spells & Magic books sound very interesting. I also loved Aurora's Whole Realms Catalogue. And I think I was one of the few that liked the 2e Arms & Equipment Guide.

I was just touting the coolness of the LA system last week - glad to hear that the new release will be soon in coming.

Hmm, I wonder if that might be a typo. The original which I have is by Gary and Chris Clark (Hekaforge).

I seem to recall both Gary and Chris talking about an expanded new version of the catalog.

Yep, I purchased mine at NK along with the first Lejend Magazine a couple years back.

The catalog is a spoof of some of the old tricks, jokes, gags from magic and comic books stores - like squirting flowers, hand shake buzzers, fake dog doo/barf, etc.

It was created and geared towards the fantasy world so you have items like a flaccid sword (wilts when attacking), possessed battering ram (which turns upon the wielders) and the gimmicked mage's staff which does fun trickster stuff when using (like a cloud raining over the user's head).

Anyway, it's a hilarious book and fun to read, even if you don't ever use any of the items.

I look forward to the expanded version and will definitely buy it!

Yeah, I remembered the catalog thing, but I guess the gag-shop stuff didn't stick in my mind. I just may have to pick this up to have a few "extras" to throw at the players. Possessed battering ram you say?...

Haha, yes ~

"Slip this little number in the besieger's battery of engines and watch the fun! The POSSESSED BATTERING RAM has been ensorcelled into a feisty Chaos Beast that will be really upset at having its head knocked into gate or wall. Turns into its true form in a flash, besets the offenders, runs rampant through their camp. A great moral booster and entertainment in one package." . . . 150,000 crowns.

Interesting. It sounds like the contents would not go awry in one of the old classic April Fools Dragon issues.

Sometimes I have been cruel and used those spells / items in games. I would gleefully use more of the similar.
