Call of Cthulhu d20 + Blood and Relics

Post by Zebulon »

I was skimming through my RPG books, and found I had left Call of Cthulhu d20 side by side with Blood & Relic (a RPGObject supplement for d20 modern). And it brutally came to my mind that the two could probably mix very well.

I have both the 5th BRP and d20 editions of Call of Cthulhu. BRP is the original set of rules, very easy to run and play, even if bordering on the simplistic. Now why play the d20 version? It could be the possibility to add some D&D 3e monsters, or use some d20 modules. However, the main point for me, is that d20 enables more custom and complex characters than in BRP... except that the d20 CoC only enables simple and straight characters. Okay, it's relevant to the genre, but one could want something more heroic. This is where Blood & Relics seems to be a good addition. It provides prestige classes that could make for more diverse, interesting, and unique CoC d20 characters, for a campaign where PCs would be more heroic than normal. The adaptation of B&R to CoC seems not to require much work. Also, th power level of these prestige classes is much reasonable, so they would improve CoC d20 characters without putting them on the munchkin side.

Well, if only I had time to play more often...
