First Society Contest Begins... NOW!
First Society Contest Begins... NOW!
The first Society Contest has begun -- you must be a registered Society member to compete, and you must do so on the Society boards. There are no restrictions to number of entries, but if one person (or a small cadre of them) are dominating (ie, 3 people with 90 posts between them), the contest will be extended so everyone has a chance and not just those who got there first, and got there often.
Staff (those in the Contributors group): because you can enter, you cannot nominate your own entries - this would be unfair and biased.
Once enough entries are submitted, we (Staff and myself) will collectively decide which 15 (and a further 15 to be considered honorable mentions) are "best" based on the following criteria with no preference to order:
1) evocative -- does it make you want to use it?
2) style -- is it presented / written well?
3) applicability -- is it easy to implement?
4) originality -- have we seen this before?
After these are selected, the top 15, and the next 15 honorable mentions (all of which have to be different people) will be entered in the Domesday Book (names of honorable mentions, not their submissions) released after the contest has finished.
Amongst the top 15, 5 "finalists" will be chosen -- and of them, one winner who will receive a special prize; the other finalists will receive something else -- I have to speak to Steve about specifics but I have some ideas. I promise it will be something worthwhile.

As of right now, here are my desires for the winner:
Grand prize: Free copy of Castle Zagyg: Upper Works -- this will come from me
Second - fifth: six month subscription to Crusader or any 3 TLG-produced modules / supplements (does not include GFW series or Yggsburgh hardcover) of winner's choice -- these will come from me
All others (next top 15) -- placement in Domesday III
I hope this is good enough.

Go right to the contest link at the bottom of Serleran's post - the intro to the contest thread lays it out and then start reading through the current posts (all submissions are simply contiuation posts on the thread).

Hopefully, I have breathed a bit of life into the contest. The Failed State of Drakenhaven will not write itself!
