Monsters & Treasure of the Wilderlands 1 PDF Now Availab
Adventure Games Publishing is pleased to announce the release of our first direct-to-PDF product, Monsters & Treasure of the Wilderlands 1, now available on DriveThruRPG.com and RPGNow.com.
Monsters & Treasure of the Wilderlands 1
Over time players become complacent, sure in the knowledge that they have encountered every creature in the book and catalogued all treasures to be found. They wont be so certain when the judge pulls out a new book of 16 pages of monsters and treasures that theyve never seen before!
Monsters & Treasures of the Wilderlands 1 includes 16 new monsters designed for use with Castles & Crusades and the Wilderlands of High Adventure Campaign Setting. Running the gamut from pesky 1 HD faeries to fallen 15 HD demi-gods, each monster includes details on ecology and society, powers and treasures. Some are hauntingly familiar, just enough so as to trip up the unwary adventurer, while others are entirely new and created from whole cloth. Though designed for use in the Wilderlands, every monster can find a home elsewhere, and is easily adapted into just about any fantasy campaign setting.
Also included are 16 new treasures, ranging from the least bauble to great and potent (and usually, most dire) relics. Each is tied to the Wilderlands, adding more detail to your Wilderlands campaign, though the histories can readily be altered to suit any campaign.

Thanks for the Critters and Treasures James! So much seems squeezed into those 17 pages and for only $4.00 too!
I picked up that and a PDF copy of the first journal (to supplement the physical copy). Can't wait for more stuff down the line!
With my recent acquisition of Necro's Wilderlands Box Set ... a bunch of the classic Judges Guild modules... and now this stuff, I'm in a Wilderland frame of mind these days.

I have to confess, if I didn't absolutely KNOW how good James material is I wouldn't buy the PDF for that much.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Well, I suppose it's all relative but if you consider a 24 page print module by TLG runs at $8.95... 17 pages which is crammed (no illustrations) with 16 monsters (fully described with interesting bits of lore) and 16 magical items, I think it is a bargain. Then again, some will make the point of having a 'tangible' physical module as opposed to the virtual text. Some people may also think that the lack of art may detract and take away from the value too.
However since there is no print equivalent of this, I'm perfectly fine with the $4 price tag.
It's also a heck of a lot better than the 16-page digest sized Cthulhu Live Scenario which was given out on Free RPG Day which is selling for $3.00 on RPG Now.

O.K. I downloaded this and while I like the content, the layout seems too dense. If nothing else, I'd like to see the monster statblocks unbroken, in the same column and page. More white space would be great.
I know a certain player who's going to just love that Blade of Belligerence!
It's just CRAMMED with critter goodness!
Actually, having just printed it for my personal use, I noticed that the side margins are a bit on the small side making it a bit more difficult for whole punching purposes. I reduced it to 95% size to squeeze just a bit more space as to not holepunch the text. At least there's that advantage going for PDFs!

This will definitely be taken under advisement. Next time we'll work someething out so that the blocks are all together in one column.
The text of the PDF is 10-point Garamond. Perhaps a bump up to 11 point on the next one would help the eyes a bit?

Aha! There's a thing that did not occur to me in the least! I use sleeves, so didn't even consider space for holes along the side...
Starting with the next PDF, the left side of the page will have a wider margin, for ease of punching holes to put it in a folder.

There are a lot of things I don't buy because I consider them over priced. Especially in the PDF world. If I did not already know the quality of James' work this PDF would be one of them.

Sounds good, James! I'll be picking this up tonight, along with some other pdfs that I've been putting off.

Another option, that I use, is to get openoffice.org for free, convert the PDF, and then you can change the layout/font/etc... to what you like.
