Lightning has struck twice!

I'm in a great mood this evening.

As some of you may recall, about a week ago, I stopped by my FLGS who was having a mega sale. Aside from picking up a great game who's pieces I'll be using for my regular C&C games, I was happy to find Necromancer Games' "Wilderlands of High Fantasy" box set still in shrink for $35. I was *very* pleased with this find.

As some of you also know, I've been reading through the City State of the Invincible Overlord Box Set put out by Mayfair games which I got (elsewhere in near mint shape and complete) for very cheap. Despite it being an adequate box set IMO, it may not have done the Original City State justice which Necromancer Games book covering it apparently does. The problem with that is it's hard to find and when you do... it'll cost ya an arm and a leg! ($50 right now over at Necromancer Games for example).

Well, on a lark I decided to stop in to the gameshop again -- just in case. Not only did I see it tucked away on the shelf, but it was also on sale. I was able to get it at for $21 and it's pretty much still in new condition.

There were a few more Necromancer titles at good prices... I was tempted by the City of Brass which is ALSO at $35 but I decided to hold off on it. I'm sure it's great but even with these great prices, I've been spending more than I usually would these days.

Anyway, I thought I'd share my good fortune!

You obviously do not have City of Brass yet. Otherwise you would have known to buy it. It is the BEST treatment of the home of the Efreeti ever done. Better then Kenzer, better then a certain other individual.

Get it.

Unless you don't like Efreeti. Then I could see you not liking it.

Nobody likes a gloater! Seriously, congrats. If I could find the NG CSIO for that cheap I'd probably give it a try. But I'd probably nitpick it to death like the Mayfair CSIO.

I don't really know much about it aside to '1001 Arabian Nights' and Kuntz's introductory / rpga scenario. It looks like a 'hefty' box-set jam packed with campaign setting goodness.

I love many of Necromancer Games's offerings and this was one that I was interested in seeing that I've heard so many positive things about it. At the same time, I'm unsure if I would use it in the foreseeable future. As it stands right now, it's still fairly easy to get and I'm still weighing if I should spend even more money to acquire this and a couple other things I've seen recently.

I'll let you know if I cave in the next few days or so (before the end of the sale).

IMO, City of Brass is one of Necromancer's best. The box set is LITERALLY jam-packed to the brim with material. AND, it was written by TLG's very own Casey Christopherson (Bowbe). It's like all sorts of bad-ass, AND fits in with many of Necormancer's other titles too like Bard's Gate, Rappan Athuk Reloaded and the like.

Unless you don't like Efreeti and don't ever see yourself setting an adventure on the elemental planes, get it. It is really well done.

Plus like Omote said, Bowbe wrote it, so if you like his style in the HH series your going to love how he did City of Brass.

I consider City of Brass to be one of the top 5 RPG supplements ever done. In 3E alone the only other product I like to a similar degree is Green Ronins Book of the Righteous.

Its a very well done product.

I even have two copies, as soon as I get the copy I bought from Serleran for $30.00+ shipping.

I caved... sooner than I thought I would. I'm certainly poorer but grinning ear-to-ear. Both of you helped to sell it and it was hard to say no at that price. The name attached to it (Bowbe's) certainly made a difference since I do love his stuff. This is something I didn't realize until it was pointed out to me last night. Ultimately I also don't quite have anything like it this. Ranking this in the top 5 is certainly impressive and I'd be curious to see what else you rank up there Treebore!

Out of the various Necromancer products... few (if any?) have left me dissatisfied. I'm in the same boat with the Goodman stuff but sometimes though, you just have to stop yourself. I've tried to be deliberately selective in the past year when it came to expanding into anything for made for 3.x -- with the key word being *tried*.
Sales like these do make things a bit harder at times.
