Ok, I wanted one, but knew I'd have to make it myself, so to speak. I bought the two 11x17 pdf maps and then opened them in Adobe Photoshop CS2. I then merged the maps together, frigged around with it a while, and created a new map at 600dpi, 24x36, saved as a pdf. Wait theres more. I put a very translucent hex grid over the whole thing. It looks sweet. I then made a trip to the local print shop and presto, my own one piece glossy poster map of Airhde. I may try it again, but am looking at doing a mega sized one, maybe a 36x48. Yes, I'm crazy. I love maps. They are all over my game room walls.
I will post a pic soon, and maybe find a way to post the file for others to download. Is that legal, ethical and all that, or do I need permission from TLG?
I can also zoom in and draw in my own campaign villages, towns, and places of interest and print those as well! That's next on the agenda.
Awsome New Poster Map of Airhde
Awesome!
PIperdog, I would really, really like a copy of your map. I do not have the software available to me to do what you've done, and was trying to figure another way of enlarging the maps I have and adding a hex grid.
I am getting ready to start a campaign, and part of that game will involve a major war breaking out. I planned on wargaming the battles using the block units of elves, dwarves, orcs, etc., from my Columbia Games Wizard Kings set, so I needed a map of Aihrde like the very one you created. Otherwise, I was going to substitute the generic maps that came with the wargame for Aihrde...bah!
So, I vote for approval!

Ya. To be absolutely tecnical, unless the map has "permission granted for personal photocopying" it's actually illegal to do anything, but generally no one gets in a snit if you've just done something at home just for you..
Putting it out, however, over the internet requires explicit legal permission from TLG, and more specifically from Peter Bradley because he is the primary artist. Remember, they are selling maps.
Now, you might contact them (after GenCon of course) and submit your additional work to them see if they'd add it to RPGnow releases, but unless you have permission even e-mailing it around to one other individual would constitute "distribution," and as such is a violation of Intellectual Property rights.
Sorry
(PS I'd love to have one of Aihrde like that myself.... give the Trolls a call. And by that I do mean CALL after GenCon... the phone is better communication to get Steve than e-mail).

I know they wouldn't have a problem with me making one for personal use, but I will definitely give Steve a call and see if he'll let me post it for others to use. I think I will shoot it over to him and see if they want to sell it as a pdf on RPGNOW. I like the hex effect on it too; its a really faint, white hex grid that you can barely see, so it doesn't get in the way of appreciating Peters artwork.

Considering its already being sold on rpgnow, I'd say its a big no. ^_^

Thats too bad for the other folks who would like a one piece map. I, of course, started out with the two individual map sections that came with the folio. Then I got the idea to purchase the two maps off of RPGNOW, and put the two together as one big map. Last I knew, you still have to download the two separate maps.....there is no Airhde world map that comes as one undivided whole. Plus I got the hex grid going on my version....sometimes I really like it on there, and then sometimes I don't. I am a bit back and forth on that one.
On a separate note, It was great to meet you at GenCon, Pete!

I keep meaning to prod Steve into putting the map up in one piece. Now I've a bit of time I'll do just that when he wakes up some time this week.
