Did Crusader 11 get mailed to subscribers yet? I saw it was available but haven't received mine yet. Any one else get theirs?

For what it's worth, I've not seen mine yet, either.

Nada, but I think they are trying to get all the CZ: UW orders out, first. Not sure.

I should have waited a day more before posting. My issue 11 arrived today!

Sorry to be so impatient. Just hate waiting for stuff I know should be on its way.

And, of course, I should have waited, too. My copy was sitting in the box when I got home this evening. Off to read it...

Hmm. This issue doesn't seem to have the Secondary Skills article that is listed on the product page. Was that a late drop in favor of the "Infernal Powers" piece?

Actually, comparing the contents of the issue vs. the product page shows some other subbed content as well - The Alea Iacta Est is entirely different, the Aihrde fiction isn't in the issue and several other things are either missing or changed. None of this is a particularly big deal, of course. But I figured it was worth asking about.

The one thing that does strike me as significant is that in Mike's "Infernal Powers" article, it looks like there are multiple places that reference Table I, but I'm not seeing a Table I anywhere.

I'm not trying to bust anyone's chops, but this is disappointing. I mean, I was looking forward to the skill system article, though I can understand if it had to be bumped. But getting what seems to be an article that's missing some key info as a substitute rubs me a little wrong, though.

No screaming here. Just some disappointment.

EDIT: Aha. This is mystery is starting to unravel, at least a bit. The "Infernal Powers" article was originally slated to run in #10, per the product page for that issue. So we have a bunch of content shuffling going on. Fair enough. But I still wish the article had its full contents.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

OK, I decided to sit down and start reading.

"The Year in Review" was an enlightening read, but it was painfully obvious the editor for this article was rushed and missed some big grammar errors and misspellings.

"Hammer and Anvil" was another enjoyable read, like the whole series has been. Nothing I really need as a CK with 22+ years of campaigns, but still a good read and I will have to remember to read it again when I want to do some more campaign building, because it is a great refresher even for us "old dogs". So not only is the map on page 9 a "reference aid", so is the whole series of articles. Plus Casey just put some cool ideas into it, ones I am sure I will draw on when it comes time.

I am not a board gamer, at least not beyond Axis and Allies, even so the "Dragon Lairds Exposition" write up definitely has me intrigued. Unfortunately the pressures of the economy are likely to keep me from trying it out any time soon.

"The Dweomercrafters Den" is probably my favorite of the magazine so far. IT just proves to me why Jeffrey is such a great "bearer of the torch" for the whole Castle project. Excellent flavor material just dripping with Gygaxian influence.

"Magical Items, Magical Campaigns" just reminds me of how much I want James Mishler to get his next issue of the AGP Journal out.

Auld Wyrmish has Mike giving us an interpretation of how to have Dante's Inferno adapted to a C&C campaign. Again, this article brings home that the editor was apparently rushed, so irritating grammar issues really show up strongly again in this article. The material is fortunately interesting enough I only really notice stuff in the first column or two.

I skipped Angry Gamer and went straight to Monsters of Aihrde. A neat little monster that will go nicely with the Dust Wraith written up on the baords this past week.

I'll read "Angry Gamer" and "How it all Happened" later on.

Heh, it turns out that Ghul has a preview article on the CZ box in this issue.

Very excellent. Of course, I'm now more pumped up about the boxed set. Loaded with material, yeah!!

I started with Gary's remembrances ~ always great to read. Puts me in a good mood and gets one thinking about one's childhood days.

I was glad to see Jim Ward's article/preview of his Dragon Lairds game. I've made a post or two about it, but only he can give you the in depth and great reasons to get you interested in the game.

Still reading . . .

Great issue, to be sure.

Mine came Saturday. I read a few of the articles already. The highlights for me were Mike Stewart's piece on the infernal circles of Hell and Steve's forecast for where C&C is heading in the near future.

There was a lot of rushing around for this particular issue, I fear... We experimented with a new layout style for the interior, which got axed at the last minute so everything had to be re-layed out (I don't even think that's a word) all over again in the old style. And the two articles you mentioned above also got hacked up at the eleventh hour before going to print; due to the unexpected shake-up with the Gygax products, whole sections of Steve's article were ripped out in their entirety, and as Sieg mentioned in a different post earlier it was decided to remove the table of stats from his article at the last minute as well.

Basically, it was a giant cluster-- erm. You get the idea... Hopefully, we won't be operating under those conditions again in the future and we'll be getting back to smooth sailing with the magazine! Let us know if #12 is better when it comes out!

I liked Crusader #11. I have not yet read all of it, but it had a more appealing style to it, felt more like a professional magazine. Not that the others have not... its just that, to me, this one was more felt in that sense, like it has finally become an official magazine. Maybe that's the whole "now monthly!" blurb.

Yeah, I very much had the sense that this was rushed. I mean the errors are not the "typical" kinds I have seen in TLG products. Several of them were bigger than I have seen since early TLG products. Usually its simple mispellings, omitted words, transposed letters causing a mis spelling. In this issue words were butchered, so I described it as feeling rushed because I really did get the feeling that you were.

Hopefully there will be no more last minute changes.
