GG 4e Releases
Cool. I was browsing around at NKG today and saw that they got the Goodman Games 4e releases in. Had to place an order.
Sellswords of Punjar
Dragora's Dungeon
Character Codex
Interestingly enough, the Character Codex credits some dude named Peter Bradley with the Graphics design.
I'm really looking forward to seeing Sellswords. The Punjar FRPG Day book is pretty damned sweet so I expect this to be just as good.
Dragora's Dungeons looks to be promising as well. It also has a nifty, scantily clad chick by Clyde Caldwell on the cover so thats a bonus.

You reminded me of another GG release, DD. Have you seen Points of Light yet? I think it came out, but I'm not sure. It looked very interesting, but I don't have a lot of information on it.

I saw the PDF preview, as well. I'm looking forward to it was well. Sorry - I didn't want to detract from your current topic, so I'll go back to the corner now.

I saw the Points of Light stuff at GenCon. For those who like great setting material, grab it.
As for the 4e modules, considering how the stat blocks are set up in 3pp products, grab those too if your a fan of DCC quality. A 4e stat block can pretty well be used for any edition. A rather dubious faux pas on WOTC's part.

Hey, Rob! My main concern was how much "4e infiltration" PoL has. I have actually seen the preview and I noticed some recommended classes, levels, and HD for certain NPCs and creatures, but I couldn't glean any more from the preview. No offense to you or anyone, but I'm trying to stay away from as much 4e material (read: nonsense ) as I possibly can.
That's all...thanks!

I've been told that approximately every 10 pages or so there is a 4, that has absolutely nothing to do with the text on that page, placed innocuously on the bottom corner of the page.
Talk about, subtle, insidious, subliminal, infiltration....

Ah so I need to establish my old school creds.
Will this convince you from a noted old school/retro blogger?

Points of Light, as defined by Keith Baker, isn't new to 4th edition. If you read the Keith Baker article you will see that the description of it describes Judges Guild Wilderlands of High Fantasy nearly perfectly.
Even with that only one of the lands (Wildlands) was written with that exact description in mind. The other three are different. Southland - frontier of a kingdom, Borderland - warzone between two factions, Acheron - home plane of a evil god.
The stats in the preview are as heavy as it gets. Class/level or HD. I had a copy of AD&D 1st monster manual, and C&C's Monster and Treasure, looking at the flavor text for inspiration. Nor did I have the 4ed Monster Manual which wasn't even released (nor was I a playtester) when I wrote it.
The title was chosen for marketing reasons as we have to appeal to the largest segment of the RPG market. In this particular case the concept of "Points of Light" is just as useful for the old school gamer as it is for the fans of 4th edition.
You will find that it is a fairly unique product. It is closest in format to the Wilderlands but much more limited in scope and affordable. I am willing to bet that at least one of the four lands will be useful for your current campaign.

I received notification of a package waiting for me at the post office which I suspect is my Noble Knight Games order. Contained within that order, amongst other items, is the Points of Light accessory. I'm looking forward to giving this a serious look through and I promise to share my thoughts on what appears to be an excellent product!
I may even try and squeeze and submit a review for the C&C Society newsletter (though I need to polish off a couple of pieces I had been working on first).

Hey, Rob, I wasn't doubting you're "old schoolness" or anything like that! The product looked fantastic and the only thing I was concerned about (petty as it may be) was the overabundance of 4e stat blocks, references, etc. If it contained too much of that junk, I'd probably pass on it. It was on my "to buy" list to begin with, and now after your post reassuring me of the lack of 4e infiltration and another great review, it's moved up into my top 5. Thanks again, Rob.
DD, I promise I'll quit trying to derail your thread...my apologies!

Having product (now) in hand... I can assure you there is NO stat blocks of any kind. The most crunch you see is along the lines of the name of a creature or character class and the relevant HD or level. Oh and the occasional mention of magical weapons and armor along the lines of a +1 Longsword or a +2 Shield. It's all campaign substance with no crunchy filler.
First impressions are very good!

Thanks Mort, for the review. It looks pretty dang sweet, from the preview - I can hardly wait to get my hand on it. You and James really eased my mind on the crunch capacity, too. Thanks!

Just got the omdules and Character Codexes in today. I've not given them a complete read through yet but thus far I have to say...
Get Them.
Seriously.
Even if you aren't a 4e fan, get them. This is some good stuff and as Peter had mentioned, the stat blocks are easy enough to use with C&C. Just fix the HP's.
Character Codex is pretty sweet to. Far better than the crap WotC offered for a character sheet, but I would have changed some things they did with the sheets in the Codex.
I never bought the d20 DCC's, just the C&C GG stuff. They've officially won over a new fan. Looks like I'll be grabbing there C&C and 4e lines.
