Mind Rotting Fun
I've never been much of a console gamer, but I finally wore my wife down and picked up a PS3 along with a few games today. Wow, the games are so purdy.
As a simple button masher, I've sucked at the newer generations of consoles. Guess I'll figure it out and have some good ol' mind rotting fun.

Yea hard line is the way to go. I have ta use wifi and ping with its can flux greatly even with good signal. I do sugest a good serg protecter/powercleaner with line noise reduction on the ethernet line and power supply(radio shack). You can get line serg from the modem fairly easy. If ya need any tec help im at your service.

Yeah, my only dislike for our house is that there was only one hard line downstairs and it's by the kitchen. I had to run a line to my den for the comp. It'll be easy enough to run one to the living room but I'll have to pick up a 2nd modem I guess.
naww u just need a router if your modem only has 1 ether port, then you might as well go wifi. Try linksys brand routers but u want one that can do at least 802.11b.

Assassin's Creed is freakin' awesome.
Yes, it is, I have it for XBox 360. I'm running a home campaign inspired by it. Maybe you can base the one between you and your wife on it?

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

If you like console RPGs, try Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. It's one of the best console RPGs I've ever played. I haven't gotten far into it, but it is spectacular.
Of course Madden 09 is great, if you're in to that sort of thing.

Obliviii rocks hard. Assassins Creed was fun for a while, but got old. Kinda the same throughout. It's still a fun game, I just need a break from the sameness for a while before I get back into it. I am playing Spore on my laptop which is quite fun right now.

Man I spent alot of time on oblivion. Fallout 3 is the same publisher so it'll probably rock as hard but with bullets and mini nuks (FAT BOYS). Spor is my dream sim that ive wanted since forever, thank the powers the ps3 port is confirmed. lol all us c&c/Ps3 players should get playstation eyes and use video chat to play c&c face-to-face.

Yeah, Oblivion is another one of the games I picked up. Aint tried it yet but the premise looks fairly sweet.

The Xbox did go thru the time period of the RROD (red ring of death) but newer iterations have solved that problem. I myself have had 2 RRODs but my new machine, which was replaced each time free of charge, has no probs. I don't really have anything against the PS3 but enjoy the "console war". Gives me something to argue about with the Playstation fanboys at Gamestop. I prefer the 360s online play as it seems to be more stable than PS.
Oh and the Shadowrun game is not exactly what they hyped it to be. Its a first-person shooter that is played either capture-the-flag style or defend-the-flag. Although it is enjoyable, it was not as in depth as expected and did leave me somewhat disappointed. With a property that has as much to offer as Shadowrun does they didn't capture the rpg's experience like they could have. It is discounted now that it has been out for awhile and is worth a look by any fps fan. Be warned though, 99% of the game must be played online. The other 1% is a training set that only teaches you the controls.

I was a huge xbox fanboy, when I worked at ebgames id push it hard. I grabed the 360 at launch..oops. I knew it was crapy hardware by how it was acting (my family was in hardware development in the 90s) and traded it in(only 90day warranty at that time) rather than eat a bigger loss. Over all the ps3 is a better value(now not then), 360 will nickel&dime ya ta death. Games selection is about par for now, and looks like the 360 will be obsolete in only a fiew years, possibly next one by 2011. Live is better for online play, but PSN works and is free. RRoD is better this hardware cycle IF you have the righ mobo BUT RLoD(partial hardware failure) is still a problem and is not under 3yr warranty . The hardware will likely only fixed with the jasper chip set with both GPU&CPU at or under the 65nm process. Bad hardware is bad hardware and that's the only problem with the 360.If I trusted the hardware i'd probably buy it again though..

I'm pretty much Nintendo all the way. I did the Playstation bit for a while ( The first two) But buying new PS2's every little bit did nothing for my love of Sony. My next console will be a Wii and I'm pretty much ignoring the PS3 and Xbox 360.

I'm going Nintendo again due to the kids and the price point. Microsoft and Sony need to learn that rich kids aren't the only people who play games.

Yea the wii is good but in a different way. Its cheaper to buy(if u can find one) and to run, 15wats vs ps3s 280wats, The lack of quality games right now sucks, im not playing it alot since I burnt though all the good ones(Mario Galaxy is the best Mario ever imo). Monster hunter 3 will get me playing again, when its out. If you have HD over 480p native rez the picture looks like crap. If your HD has a good upscaler it helps but the wii looks way better on sd/ed tv. The wii is a good buy at $250 but dont pay over that. The controller is cool when you get the hang of it, and the new expanded motion pack will help, included with wii sports resort. Over all this cycle I started hating the ps3 and was a 360 fan,got burnt(allmost literally)by it then went wii, was happy but a tad let down with it, bit the bullet at xmas and bought the ps3 and have loved it since. Pluss ps3 gets the next Twisted Metal, cars+guns=

Yeah, my buddy got a Wii a while back. No offense to my friend, or anyone her or owns or prefers a Wii over the other consoles, but to me, it a little too "kiddie" to me. I just found too many family/fun/kid type games for my personal tastes. I liked the quantity and quality of game titles for the Xbox 360 and that lead me to my console selection (I didn't get a nex-gen console until last Xmas). But hey, they're all pretty decent systems.

The family games are what I am looking for right now. To be perfectly honest though I just have lukewarm feelings toward the next gen consoles. Too much online crap and the prices are too high. The only one that fits what I want these days is the Wii. But it's something I can wait for.
I'm still having too much fun with my Gamecube and retro nintendo systems to really want to switch. In all honesty the only system I really am looking hard at is a Retro Duo to save wear and tear on my NES and SNES.

Yea wii is what u want for fam fun. Mario kart, smash bros(this one is the best), warioware, wii sports. The wii is great for same room multi player. In truth games like mariokart have great online, the wii shop is loaded with new/retro goodness too.I want to get one for my bro but the price gouging is crap, ebay scalpers still jacking the price up because of all the demand. I hear the best way to get one is to chum up to a wallmart employe and get the day when shipments get in, the try to get it right as it hits the store.

I'll buy a PS 3 if it ever gets below $200, I refuse to pay that kind of money for consoles. The only reason I have an Xbox 360 is I won it on eBay for $150.00 with shipping. Oh, and two controllers. Yes, its been working just fine for about 9 months now.
