Ok if you are in the path of ike...please be safe. It look like ikes kinetic level is going to be the second highest recorded. Ta boot it'll hit under a full moon(no wereicane jokes pls) causeing swell to go 5-15 feet over sea wall. The storm has sum "anomalies" in relation to wind speed too. All combined the factors will increase the damage power of the storm past the base rates. So if it lands at a C lev 2 it'll hit like a 4. Please take care.

Yeah, I hope those closer to the coast get themselves and families out of the path.

We're pretty crowded up in these parts now. We've got extra inmates from the coast in the unit and evacuated officers from the coast in our housing area. Gotta go tie down the crap in our yard today as well.

The sheer nuttiness of people during times like this boggles my mind.

We're gonna get hit with some high winds and big rain up where we are, but we're not near the coast. But still, people get all panicky.

ALL of the gas stations were insanely full yesterday. At Walmart, we were picking up a few food things and as I was getting a case of bottled water (my wife drinks it) it happened to be the last one of this particular cheap ass brand and a dude tried to snatch it out of my hands. I advised him to rethink what he was doing and he decided to let go but still...WTF people. Folks were running around Walmart like it was the ned of the friggin world.

I hate the mob mentality.

I know it was just a typo, but "Ned of the Friggin' World" is my next character name. Bet.

If you want to say a prayer, say it for my father-in-law. He works for Texas New Mexico Power and has to stay there to sort out problems as they happen. My mother-in-law is up here staying with us, but he can't leave. I love my in-laws and pray nothing happens to him.

What makes me mad is that he has to stay down there and there are idiots being told to evacuate and they won't leave even after being told that they were certainly going to die! And when they do, it'll be everyone's fault but their own, just like Katrina.

And then there's that fat-hiney Michael Moore who said Gustav was an obvious sign that there's a God in heaven because it struck during the first day of the GOP convention (which is stupid, since it struck Louisiana, a Democrat stronghold). I'm sure that he and his ilk will be trying to use this hurricane to further their sick little agenda. It chaps my hide...

You do not want to know what I think of Michael Moore. 'Nuff Said.

Keep The Trolls in mind, too. I haven't checked the radar range lately ("about two minutes"), but Ike's track inland is likely to head directly over Arkansas.

While it's been raining pretty hard here in So. Central KS ("Drainage? We don' need no steenkin' drainage!"), it looks as if we're going to, again, only catch the western fringe of what will be the tropical depression.

'Scuse me while I fire up the wet vac again...

I to hate the mob mentality but this storm is different than others and has more power than katrina due to the amount of water mass it holds. This is the big weather nerd site
http://wunderground.com/blog/JeffMasters/show.html Im not the sky is falling type but the data on ike is frightening.

Yeah, Ike is gonna be a bugger. Current projections of his inland path have him dragging his nuts right over the top of us tomorrow too.

so, I guess I'll enjoy all the modern electric conveniences tonight, for tomorrow it looks like I may be without some power. We have a pretty good history of getting the power back up in this area, so we'll see how it goes.

Good thing C&C only requires minimal lighting. Stormy nights are good for sea adventures or horror. Arrrr or Aaaa?

That is my primary concern. We're in a rather tornado prone stretch of land as is.

One of my regular players (whose PC is actually the local lord in U3: VR) is a storm chaser as his "other" hobby; I guess I know where he'll be this weekend.
Hope all in the coastal areas keep battened down!

Ike blows.

It wasn't anything overly terrible where we're at. The neighborhood looks kinda crappy at the moment but we got power back already. It kicks ass having a built in work force. Only was without power for 6 hours.

We were told to expect worse than what we got.

Typically with hurricanes once you get about 20 miles inland damage is pretty much comparable to really bad thunderstorms with high winds. Glad to hear you did so well in your area.

Yeah, but out where I stay we cheat. As soon as the worst of the storm passed, we had maintenance and inmate work crews out getting us back on-line.

Other areas? Still without.

It's like 2 years ago when our neighborhood got smacked by a tornado. We were out working in the storm immediately after the tornado passed. We ran crews through the night for the first few nights and had our homes fixed by the end of the week.

Ike was still a category 1 when it passed over where we are at, but it didn't hold a candle to our regular summer thunderstorms in intensity. It just lasted a lot longer.

All's good here in San Antonio. Saturday was hot (102) and sunny. I drove through a wet patch on the freeway, but it never actually rained on me at all. Ike took that sharp right at the last minute and headed north, sparing us from anything at all.

I was finishing a painting Friday evening and every time I opened a tube of paint, it would squirt out a little bit. It was kind of neat to see the low atmospheric pressure in action (in a mundane and non-catastrophic way).

Good luck to everyone else, though. Including those in AR and MO!

Good to hear, Jason!

We had about an inch of rain from it as it shot right by us on it's way to the east coast, no winds at all to speak of. Sometimes it pays to be in Wisconsin!

Virtually nothing happened here in the North Texas area; we had a few brief drizzles of rain and light breeze, and that was it. In the Tyler area, though, two sets of friends and my parents all reported downed trees either in their yards or neighbors', and brief power outages for a couple of hours. I'm glad everyone here on the Troll boards in TX is okay!
