CKG info in latest Crusader

Post by Coleston the Cavalier »

I enjoyed getting to hear about the three main themes of the CKG.

I for one, am very interested in the rules "lighter" option.

Plus, there's UGMP too!

I hope the CKG is 300+ pages. $24.95 or $49.95 it doesn't matter. It's the elusive CKG, and can their truely be a price for that? I THINK NOT. GOOD DAY SIR!

For those of us in the UK finding it REALLY difficult to get hold of Crusader - what are the 'three angles' (if you can let us know)?

Cheers

Well, as Coleton alluded, one angle is a rules light version. The other is the actual rules, such as higher level advancement, and another is rules heavy, for those who just have to have a lot of crunch.

Steve defined them as role playing, rules light, and rules engaged. He also talks about UGMP (Universal Game MEchanic Problems) such as making magic items, multi classing, modified classes, skills, maybe feats, etc...

He then goes on to tell how each of these three angles address UGMP's.

Thats it, and he really doesn't go beyond the rather obvious in explaining these, he wants to keep the actual details as a surprise for when it is printed.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

this is not how it is presented in the article, but would be a fun way to see it done, i think.

acute - mostly advice on what and how and why. no real rules discussions, other than using logic and world-needs

right - a mixture of simple rules and guidelines for implementation; basically, a more concrete acute

obtuse - "hard rules" with various options exposed. real "meat" for the people who like tinkering.
