Do people read first or post first?
I dont mean to be too grumpy, but in the LA forum I found this:
1) Gygax Games teams up with Mongoose Publishing (thread started Thu Oct 09, 2008 12:01 am)
2) gygax games unannounced announcement (thread started Wed Oct 08, 2008 9:57 am)
3) Mongoose and Gygax Games (thread started Wed Oct 08, 2008 9:19 pm)
4) Mongoose to produce Lejendary Adventures... (thread started Wed Oct 08, 2008 4:03 pm)
5) Mongoose to partner with Gygax Games for Lejendary Adventure (thread started Wed Oct 08, 2008 11:07 am)
Thats four threads on the same topic started in a very small span of time. While this is an important topic, Im not sure that it merits four threads and I cant help but wonder if people actually read the boards or just log in and post something.
Its not like the LA forums have so much traffic that a reader might have missed something, and these threads are five of the first six that pop up.

while I share your basic sentiment Finarvyn, I think in this case that part of the multiplicity of threads has to do with where they began life. I believe several of those started in general discussion and were then moved to the LA forum. so subsequent posters, eager to make the post (but perhaps not habitues of the LA forum [hmm.. that sounds funny]), kept starting new threads ... which kept getting moved to the LA forum by the mods.

Sadly... that's not the case for all of them. Where as I read before I post, I agree with Orpheus's assessment -- some people just are too excited by the notion of delivering the 'news' first.

Wait a second...you mean Gygax Games has teamed up with Moongoose Publishing?
That's CRAZY!
I hadn't heard.

I blame not using forum categories and lack of reading skills.

I started my thread here in the general forums to find out what was going on with TLG and if they were now allowed to announce things, I was not wanting to talk about the LA/Mongoose partnership in that thread. IT was moved to the LA forums by Fiff or another moderator.
Since the Trolls are yet unable to announce anything it may as well be another LA/Mongoose thread, and yes, I do read before I post.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

We noted the proliferation of posts on the topic over at our little LA site as well.
And while we were glad o hear news about LA coming back into publication, none of us regular LA guys would ever flood TLG's forum with such news - especially since we don't know about the future of CZ for C&C yet.

Don't get me wrong -- I understand how excited people can be, but it does seem odd to post something just like another thread already there.
I guess the "thread started in Open Discussion and was moved" explanation really takes care of most of the issue.
And I certainly don't want to pick on these specific posters, since I see this kind of thing a lot on boards. I just know that for me I tend to read through on-topic threads first and then decide if I want to add a comment to one or if my idea is different enough to warrent a new thread.
