Hello All,
I have a quick question regarding module conversion and specifically encounter levels. When I create encounters for 1e/2e I generally use the following rule of thumb:
Easy Encounter: monster's total hit dice are less than the party's total hit dice.
Difficult Encounter: monster's total hit dice are equal to the party's total hit dice.
Dangerous Encounter: monster's total hit dice are great than and up to twice the party's total hit dice.
Would you say these principals would hold to true for C&C also? Should I be looking at this another way? I'm planning on converting a very open ended module and may need to back down the encounter levels a bit (while converting from 1e).
Thanks for the assistance....

That's pretty close.
I'd say that the Easy level is accurate. Difficult is probably a touch more challenging in C&C than it is in AD&D. Dangerous should simply be HD > party HD. HD twice as high as party HD would be extremely lethal in C&C.
