Cities and Settlements

Post by Jungger »

I was looking through the site just now and I came across Cities and Settlements. What grabbed me at first is the cover - I think it's very well done - anyone know who did it?

I did a quick search but I am just interested in peoples opinions. I am normally not interested in d20 but some stuff from TLG is d20 lite. I will be ordering CZ:UW for my brother soon and I may add this to it.

I'll check when I get home in an in the next hour or two. That is assuming no one else answers before I do.
It's a pretty cool supplement though.

I found it to be good. I especially liked the NPC's and adventure hooks they gave me.

My problem is I have so many good books/modules that give me similar, that it would take me decades of running games to get through them all.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Cities & Settlements is a decent supplement to use with FPRGs, and is indeed d20 Lite enought that you can use it with C&C with absolutely no problems. The best aspect of the Cities & Settlements book is the unique nature of the areas described. Most of the settlements described are far more then just a basic, everyday description. In (almost) each entry, there is unique flavor invested into the description. Which makes the book a bit more valuable then the rest on this subject.

But according to the book, it's someone called David Monette (credited as 'Cover Artist')

It's a good book though -- and since it bears the d20 logo, I'd get it through TLG if they still have it in stock. It's hard to argue against the $10 price tag.

Thanks for the help, all. I will probably end up getting it - hard to go wrong for 10 bucks.

Cities and Settlements is a really good supplement. I've ripped no less than three settlements from it and made them my own. I had to change a lot of details but the resource is a wonderful idea mine. Anyone who doesnt have World Builder should add it to their short list before it's unavailable, that's my go to book for every single session.

Thanks BD,

I wanted to get World Builder when I ordered Living Fantasy not too long ago but unfortunately, they're all gone. I have searched in my area for it but so far no luck. I think Amazon is selling them so I may end up getting it there.

You bet. If you can, get one. You won't be dissapointed. It's far less useful to players than DMs but I hope that goes without saying.
