A few questions regarding posting modules

Post by Witterquick »

I was thinking about putting up a couple of adventures that I will be using in my C&C campaign after they are done, but I had a few "propriety" questions:

1. Do I need to put the OGL page on the back?

2. Is it okay to include the stats of homegrown monsters?

3. Is it okay to include the C&C stats of converted D&D monsters? I intent to convert over the Yuan-ti, but didn't know if it was okay to include my conversions.

4. I use Hirst Arts and WorldWorksGames products, and miniatures from companies like Reaper. Is it okay to include pics of those?

Thanks for the info.

Okay, I can't speak for TLG officially, but as someone who's posted 4 mods on the forum, I'd have to say...

1. Why not...figure you're covered that way.

2. I hope so or I'm in big trouble.

3. I may be wrong, but I think the yaun-ti is still considered WOTC's intellectual property. Some are, some aren't. You'd have to check the SRD which can be downloaded from the WOTC website.

4. I'd ask their permission first.

The rule I follow:

If its in the SRD, a conversion is fine. If it is not: then I recreate it wholesale if I want to use something similar, but not "the real thing," to protect both myself, and TLG should it prove to be something I shouldn't have done (that's not legal advice, but a personal preference... and I don't even know if its sound.) So, I would not use a yuan-ti. They are not in the SRD.

Miniatures, If you bought them, either painted or unpainted, and they are your pictures, are absolutely fine. If they are reaper pictures, then no.

Interesting? Maybe I missed this somewhere, but Reaper has an issue with people posting pics of their minis? How about places like http://www.coolminiornot.com ?

angelius,

Your map of your campaign world looks really nice. Is it an original work?

Hey dadeo,

1. You have to put the OGL in there, and make certain that you update Article 15, listing any books you may have used.

2. Yes. But you may want to add legal text to the doc letting folks know what is and is not open.

3. Yuan-ti is copyright WoTC. If its in the SRD your good.

4. I'd let them know just to be on the safe side. If they want you to put up a link, why not?

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the compliment. To answer your question, yes it is original stuff. I use profantasy to do all my maps. Believe it or not, it took me only half an hour. Of course that is after hours trying to get around the relatively steep learning curve of that CAD program.
