The Upper Works now sits on my shelf.
After a long day at work, after a pleasant break from it all after work at a local pub, and after slipping on a nasty patch of ice... I got home and I was told there was a message waiting for me. I checked the message and it was my LGS telling me that my copy of the Upper Works had come in.
After doing a couple of quick things at home like changing, I rushed back out and went straight to the store. I declare to the store keep that I received the message and I was there to pick up my order. The box is pulled out, and I pull out a $20 certificate/coupon to help cover the cost which I only then noticed was $4 higher in Canadian Funds!
My smile grows even wider. I can only assume the store is trying to cut its customers a bit of a break with the exchange rate. I pay the difference which amounts to just over $35 Canadian after taxes out of pocket. That translates to a mere $28 US with today's exchange rate.
Of course, I couldn't wait to get home and since a few other gamers at the store were curious, I opened it then and there. At that point I was truly grinning ear-to-ear.
It was a very agonizing few months since Gencon to decide to wait to get my my copy through retail channels but my patience paid off by saving me a nice chunk of change...
The set looks fantastic. Thanks for all the hard work that went into it.

Which FLGS do you go to?
I special-ordered at Gamer's World but unfortunately, I didn't see any extra copies on the shelf. The same thing happened when I ordered Starsiege through them. However, if Le Valet is on the ball, I expect they will probably bring in a couple of copies themselves and I think these will probably show up very soon.
I'm a bit surprised and disappointed that they didn't bring in any extra sets to put out on the shelves though but I noticed that some of the material doesn't move that fast. There's a copy of Engineering Dungeons still sitting there from the time I ordered my copy but it hasn't budged. Of course, the store seems to push certain other lines and games a lot more than others.
The reason I tend to special order through Gamer's World is they are really close to me and that just makes things a lot more convenient. The fact that I happened to have a full stamp card giving me $20 off the set last night was a nice bonus too!
