Here are a few additions to Gary Gygaxs Secondary Skills found in Castle Zagig that I have been working on. Tell me what you think and add yours to the list as well.
Farming (wisdom - prime/wisdom)
This secondary skill deals with the cultivation of land, producing crops and raising livestock. Any and ever aspect of farming is covered by this skill including the proper storage and or sale of such foodstuffs. Typically, a person who actively farms year-round should, on average, accrue around 100 experience points a month toward levels in this skill.
*Note: I would have considered this a General Secondary Skill, but I have known far too many farmers that just did not have enough of the wisdom of farming to be successful. In C&C terms, I think that farming does indeed include making well-considered decisions or judgments like where, when and what to farm as well as having a spiritual connection to a deity - like the forces of nature or gods of agriculture and farming (Wisdom, p. 8 CCPH).
Blacksmith (strength and dexterity, prime/strength)
This skill deals with the creation and repair of iron and metal items, typically using a hammer and anvil. Objects include, but are not limited to horseshoes, farm equipment and possibly some weapons and armor. One who actively engages in the art of blacksmithing with regularity should, on average, earn around 100 experience points a month toward levels in this this skill. Additional experience points may be awarded for the creation of difficult and or masterpiece objects.
Mining (strength and intelligence - general)
This skill concerns the discovery, removal, and processing of mineral deposits from the earth. Such deposits may include such items as coal, salt, and other raw materials as well as precious metals and stones. Issues such as tunneling, appropriate airflow, and living and working in the underdark are all included in this skill. A person who actively participates in mining on a regular basis (such as for a living) should, on average, receive around 100 experience points per month toward levels in this skill.

not to denigrate the above, but it would be a lot better to have secondary skill bundles, as are those I put into the CZY book.
To cover farming, I urge an adaptation of the Rustic bility found in the LA Essentials game. for smithing, I suggest using the Mechanics Ability from the same source, the LA game, and for mining the catch-all Pantology Ability works well
All the skills covered under the aforesaid LA game Abilities are generally set forth.
Cheers,
Gary
