They are calling for (and I think its started) a lot of freezing rain and sleet here, but so far things are rolling along as normal.

Are you in the "real" western Maryland...lol. I went to school out at Frostburg State, and snow in July was not out of the question. The problem is, most Marylanders think Maryland ends at Frederick...sigh.

They are calling for about 1" of snow and a 1/4" of ice here in Indy. The snow doesn't bother me...the ice kinda worries me around here. They keep mentioning not having a budget for salt this year

We're under a snow threat until Thursday. They did shut down school here for one day but due to the excessive cold yesterday.

Trust me, I'd take the snow if it meant not getting the F@<^ing ice we always get.

Wusses. I'm expecting about a foot of snow in the next two-three days, but I won't get it because I want it. Bastard Jack Frost and his bag of tricks.

Only 1-3 inches tonight for us in Wisconsin here... just enough to replenish what melted off with the higher temps last weekend, just before the sub-arctic blast came blowing through here and lowered temps from 40 Sunday night to around 5 with negative wind chills Monday morning. So now we have snow banks that melted, refroze into hard icy shells, and the new snow will cover.

At least it'll be pretty again. And 1 to 3 won't close schools here, which is good because tomorrow is my off day and I want to hang around my house in solitude watching BSG dvds.

Well, you could get lots of snow and ice and have your power shut down for a week like happened here last winter. Would you prefer that?

Its actually a hidden budget cut. They are saving money by shutting down.

I had pipes bust under my house. Nothing like laying in water in 10 degree weather. Now How the hell do I warm up?

Turn the knob all the way to the right till it hits 'boil'.

Well, the Snow Miser hit us with a really good one today!! When all was said and done we had 12-13" of snow.
They're talking about another 3-6" Saturday night into Sunday morning. Wheeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like we could have another doozy for Weds/Thurs. We're already in the top 5 snowiest December's on record (we're at 26.5" right now). The record stands at 49.5" of snow for the month.

Gotta love it!!!

Yeah.. Wheeeeeeee
Think it was around 10" here with another 4" by Sunday.

Have I ever said how much I hate snow. Basically the removal and traveling in, hell if I had a cool hill near me and sled I'd be all over it

We had a major ice storm last night, but it didn't look that bad in the morning. The trees were picturesque and lovely and the streets were plowed and salted.

But low and behold, when I went to shovel after dinner tonight, the ice in the driveway was 1 inch and then got thicker as I progressed downstream. I finally stopped after it became 2 inches thick (about 2 thirds down towards the street)!

Holy cats and dogs I don't ever remember ice this thick. And I still have more to go . . but not tonight. Too tired and cold - time for some nogs!!

You're welcome.
And Steve, sounds like you experienced something similar to a Pittsburgh "snow day." I've lived here for most my life, but spent my early years in Wisconsin, so I still roll my eyes at these things. I will say this, though, Pittsburgh is freaking hilly, so the roads do get more treacherous when the ice sets in... but I've seen too many "snow days" that turned out to be rainy days to not be cynical.

Ugh...

Manitowoc was just a little less than you guys a Deogolf....

And then we had a 2nd wave of lake effect in the evening that added another 1-2 across the land.

More tomorrow night, more on the way Tue we hear.

Let us not forget the crap that the snow plows leave behind! Had a nice 2-3' foot wall waiting for me this morning at the end of the driveway!! I know they have a job to do too, but it doesn't make it any easier!
