intro to Warhammer FRP v.2

Anyone up for an intro game of Warhammer FRPv.2 tonight (or possibly Friday)? We will be using Skype and Maptool .48. I have pregens available for those without characters or who are new to the system. Can start as late as 9 pm est.

For those who already know the game, you can create a new character if desired using the official rules (however, you may choose your character's beginning career instead of rolling for it).

Sure, if the Gear Krieg game doesn't pan out, count me in. If you don't mind, I'd prefer to roll up my own character (it's so fun!).

Ok, I rolled up a Norse Berserker, to my surprise. I used Tome of Corruption's expanded Norse Character stuff (basically swaps out the Empire skill set). I used the optional rule that allows me to swap in Reikspiel for another skill (in this case, I just replaced by second buy of Norse). Is that ok?

Looks like the game is going to be pushed to Friday night. I can start it anytime between 7-9 est. So far we have 2 players.

Ok, here's my character background:

Ten years ago, life was very different for Aalsteinn. He was a young bondsman, rising in rank and privilege in the warrior caste of his tribe, and achieving honour for his ancestors. It seemed certain he was destined for a good death, and would ascend to the Great Hall beneath the World's Tree to do glorious combat with his forebears for eternity. Then, one day, a great storm hit when he and the other warriors were at sea. Their Dragonship capsised, Aalsteinn and a few others managed to cling to shattered timbers, drifting ashore the next day. Among the lost was counted his thane, leader of the clan.

The great king selected from among the Skaeling a new thane, a younger warrior from a neighbouring village, that same year. Almost instantly and unprovoked, the new thane set upon Aalsteinn with a rivalry, making the older warrior's life hellish. Over the next few years, great indignities and slurs were heaped on Aalsteinn's name by the impetuous thane. When the Storms of Chaos began, the greatest of these insults would come to be, as the thane convinced the village seer that Aalsteinn was far too old to serve their gods in this campaign, and was better suited to stay behind and guard the women and children. And so the thane lead the other bondsmen south, to glorious battle with the Empire.

Aalsteinn became mad with vexation, and soon set off alone to the Empire, to find his thane and defeat him in honourable combat on the battlefield, thereby cleansing the stain of dishonour from his name. When he did find the thane, on a battlefield outside Middenheim, the younger warrior had become much more, marked many times over with the blessings of their dark gods. Furious that the gods had exalted the whelp, Aalsteinn locked blades with him, but was quickly defeated by the superior combatant. As a final indignity, the thane refused to kill Aalsteinn, and announced he was not worthy to die a warrior's death and be received at the gates of Valhalla. Mocking him, the thane abandoned the fallen berserker, left to die an old man's death and now unable to return home with any sense of pride. As the Chaos armies retreat, Aalsteinn wanders the Empire mute and dispondent, blending in unquestioningly with the many foreign mercenaries left jobless after the war had passed.

Had fun, great session guys! Thanks to all who played. I will post what days and times I can set up part 2 soon.

Captain Schiller's column of refugees is about 3 days from Middenheim now, about half way there.

No worries, the game still needs to be scheduled (we ended up playing a solo game, for Brad and Treebore's characters in the Strike to Stun Skype game, retroactively of course).
