Well, I'm a TLG fan from back in the Erde/3E days. Loved the setting, and thought the good folk at TLG were pretty cool. Unfortunately, 3E wasn't my bag, so I ditched the system but stuck with the Trolls, so impressed was I with their setting.
Eventually, C&C came out, and I was completely sold on the system. I pimped the game, ran demos for 3Eers (many of which went C&C), and ran a very enjoyable C&C chat game with some folks you might recognize.
Real life sort of got in the way of my C&C for a while, and I dropped out of sight for a bit. Things have settled down now, and I've got that C&C tingly feeling deep inside once more...so watch out! Lord knows their isn't anything more dangerous the a tingly CK !

Enjoy the game!

Been away too long. Did you ever tell these guys about Rigollo, and licking Ruth's eyeball? Ahhhh...what a glorious, epic tale that was!
Heh, I'm sure that didn't happen!
Or was it when Rigollo the halfling proposed to the human female cleric (Ruth) - (played by that very interesting and controversial servant of the armed forces who posts at DF and is kewl?)
LOL, I can hardly believe it - was he actually in our game?
Anywho, the joke was on him, since Rigollo fathered 3 children by Ruth and they lived happily ever after - as I recall. I think Rigollo became a king in Loria, didn't he, Skath??

As I recall, your halfling bard and the human cleric lived a long and happy life of marital bliss. Sure, the hight thing was an issue for a while, but just like Tom and Katie, love...and thick platform shoes, conquors all. The halfling was to sire meny quarterling, and they all lived happely ever after! The End.
New Crusader
Hello all, new Crusader here - have been watching these boards for a long time now and decided to come out of the shadows.
Currently living over in Japan, so I can't have my collection of Mentzer boxes, AD&D 2nd ed., and sundry other games here, so I made a choice - getting Castles & Crusades!
The PHB and Monsters & Treasure are both a lovely and economic package, plenty of old school goodness sharpened up with some streamlined mechanics - now if I could only find someone to play around here! I'm way down in the south of Japan - lots of gamers in Tokyo and thereabouts.
I bought a copy of Goodman Games' DCC#35 "Gazeteer of the Known Realms" and have been using that as a backdrop for my 'theoretical' C&C campaign.
Last thing, I like the general mood of the TLG forums, they have a definite sense of community - good to see.
On with the Crusade then!

Converting Locals
Never say never! I have tried to get a few other foreigners here into a game, but it always seems to fizzle out at the last moment - bit of a shame. Still, I will keep trying.
I have seen a few signs of some table-top RPG groups about, I'll have to track them down. M:tG style card-games seem to rule the roost here at the moment, though both D&D and Warhammer FRPG have Japanese-translated editions out.
Happy to have C&C here though, really lightweight system that lets me concentrate on getting ideas out but there's also some crunch to tinker with - nothing overwhelming though, and I think that's a real plus for the game.

A good friend of mine is in the AF over there, unfortunately for you he is leaving in about 45 days. Fortunately for me his new duty station is only about 4 hours away.
Welcome to the Crusade!
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Thank you for the warm welcome
Treebore, Rhuvein, thanks for the welcome!
I have seen your postings on Dragonsfoot, Enworld, etc, and you both conduct yourselves as true gentlemen - never bashing other people for the opinion of various editions, and the like.
I've been playing D&D since 1985 - stumbled across an AD&D Monster Manual II in an Australian bookstore and flipped out over the monster illustrations - at the time I was quite into fantasy and horror, etc., so seeing a book of monsters quantified was a real surprise.
I bought that book, not having a clue about the rules, and proceeded to get all the monster manuals, before finally stumbling upon the red Mentzer basic set - that really made everything gel, and then I was on my way.
Must say that I'm very happy with C&C overall, it has a definite old-school feel that gets the creative juices flowing - hanging out for the Castle Keepers Guide - hope that will be out this year.

Danke. Trip was fun, and I was able to spend a whole day (it takes a whole day, actually) at the world famous San Diego Zoo. Yay! Zoos rock. Went around to some other So Cal sites to see what's up, but didn't get a chance to go to some places I miss, like Yosemite. Oh well, that's what you get when the state is too freaking big.
Seems like something good happened while I was away. Those quick-start rules are pretty sleek.

Hi Crusaders,
Though I have posted a few times on the boards already, I am now official. I received my C&C PHB and M&T yesterday, ohhh happy day. I can hardly wait to try this with my sons.
It has been tough getting them from tabletop wargames into role playing. My sons, 14 and 10, easily picked up the rule set for GW's Lord of the Rings Tabletop wargame and were challenged a little more with D&D minis, but once I pushed them to D&D 3.5 their eyes rolled over, the game slowed down, and I lost them. It was not the role-playing that got them but just the lull that calculating combat caused. I am partially to blame because I don't think I ever got all the quirks of D&D 3.5 remembered and it is just takes to long to be constantly looking it up.
I am an old gamer bred on AD&D and Runequest, I don't ever remember combat being so slow. Yeah, there were the odd situations but not straight up one on one combat. In contrast to that, I think in just last night's reading I have enough of C&C down that I can run them through a game and have them actually play, versus sitting there trying to figure out what dad is doing with all those books.
We are going to try out "Lion in the Ropes" this weekend. Of course I might not get them to sleep that night for fear of the Orinsu, but it should be fun.
Will keep you posted.
