Yep. Didn't her using the name of her Witch character tip you off?
Oh yeah. I didn't want to reveal her secret identity, but since you did, I was just funnin' with ya.

Hey, Scott here, 39, and have been in and out of the hobby since 1980. After a rabid start having played my first game in the "Mansion of Mad Professor Ludlow" as a troupe of Boy Scouts (1st level fighters, but with a huge amount of hitpoints) out on a camping outing, we heard a lady scream from a mansion... Battered, beaten, bloody, we finally reached the Professor at the end, and after he took out not a small number of our group with a pistol, we finally brought him down. I was hooked... One of my favorite Christmas presents of all time was under the tree that year... the D&D Basic and D&D Expert sets!!! Not a few years later, I sought out and bought the original D&D set, Chainmail rules, and three of the four expansions "Greyhawk", "Blackmoor", and "Eldritch Wizardry", missing only (to this day) "Gods, Demi-Gods, and Heroes". AD&D was my main system, mixed with not a small number of house rules, and rules from other game systems such as Arcanum and Paladium. I still love the old Bard and Psionics rules, the UA extensions on the Druid are still my favorite extended class rules. Dragon magazine was a treasure trove of additional information (and after having read the Deryni series I was overjoyed to find a Psionicist class and Deryni race in the pages of that magazine). Modules, classes, races, and a wealth of information on my favorite settings of tWoG, among other items, it was well worth the price paid. 2nd Edition came along, and I continued to wrap in rules from everywhere, updated to this system, but still had a heavy OAD&D flair.
I ran an extended online campaign, "Thru the Ashes" as DM ScottW on AOL, part of the time that game moved into the TSROnline area as I was one of the online reps "TSRO Bocob" (OK, yes purists will tell me there are two C's in Boccob, but unfortunately AOL's screen name length prevented it), though after I left that role the game continued for a while. There were periods of time here that I had began slipping in and out of the game, but still played regularly, but didn't buy much of the stuff being put out at that time. I mean, I wanted to be able to make the story with my players, not have it dictated to me by the game designers. However, then came 3E, and the magic faded, and quickly. While many of the newer players wanted to move on with the new system, the few "old timers" still in the group, including myself, moved on to other pursuits. 3.5 wasn't any better, don't get me wrong, there are some things that I liked about these systems, but to my line of thinking the game was just way to munchkinized, and still to heavily marketed towards the younger gamer for my liking... That being said, there were periods of playing in the game, and the last few years I have been Gen Con bound...
This year, perusing the catalog for GenCon, I saw the TLG booth, and Castle Zagyg... being an old tWoG fan, I had to check it out! I mean, finally Gary's vision released? Who could resist? Well I get to the booth and started looking at the material and saw that it was going to be a whole setting, not just the dungeon. Well, I was disappointed that the box set wasn't there, and more so that I had just missed Gary, as he had left the booth for the day. I picked up Yggsburgh and East March to peruse later that night after the gaming was completed. Well, the group was going to dinner at a place that was a bit far on my gimpy knee for me to walk to, so I went back to the room, got a bite to eat and started reading. I was floored, I loved the material! I went back to the booth the next day and bought the remaining CZ materials, as well as the C&C PHB and M&T books. I met Gary later that day and had him sign one of the CZ books.
OK, I'm getting quite long, so I'll wrap it up with these few thoughts...
The guys at the booth at GenCon were great. They took plenty of time to talk about the merits of the C&C system, and I must say THANK YOU!!!! Light rules set, modernized gaming system with old school flavor? The magic is back in the game, and I am looking forward to getting a group together to play.
Second, major kudo's to the guys at GC again, while in line to meet Gary and get his autograph on the CZ materials, there were a couple of couples with kids in strollers. The guys saw the first one and talked to the people in front of them to see if they would let the couple go ahead, and classy as most gamers are, they let them go. I mentioned another couple that was still around the corner, and they got everyone to let them go as well. In fact, they came back thanking us, and gave us some swag, not required, much appreciated, and again just goes to show the class that true "old school" (in reality, or in heart) gamers possess.
Finally to Gary, I said it there, I say it again, thank you... thank you for the game that you helped create and refine. Thank you for countless hours of fun, and not a few of frustration, though this later is really from players going on wild tangents, but I digress... And thank you for your time at the Con
Welcome Koralas! I believe you'll find this board much friendlier than most. Plus I think I remember you from the TSR messageboard days. I'm not sure what name I used back then. Probably Treebore or Grimaryl Atyar.

Howdy gang. My name is Rom and I started with AD&D back in the mid 80's then continued on with the game thru 3.5. At Gen Con 2006, I stopped by the TLG booth and picked up a copy of the condensed box set and immediately feel in love with the ruleset. Reading thru the condensed books, I had the 'sense of wonder' I had not felt since I first started playing all those years ago. I've been a lurker since that time, mainly due to the fact that my current campaign is 3.5. But after 6+ years, that campaign ends this Fall and I've decided to run a C&C / Wilderlands of High Fantasy campaign.
On a totally related side-note, I've recently been assigned as the lead developer for the C&C ruleset conversion to Fantasy Grounds by the fine folks at Digital Adventures Inc. With that said, expect to see me more on these boards in the upcoming days/months/and dare I say, years?
Take care.
Achievement is the knowledge that you have studied and worked hard and done the best that is within you. Success is being praised by others. That is nice but not as important or satisfying. Always aim for achievement and forget about success.

Welcome, Rom! (and Welcomes to the other folks I missed!)
I'm very pleased to hear that Digital Adventures has taken to hiring on Space Knights...
But seriously, yay! Now that my life isn't so crazy, I will be able to get my old group together via Zee Internets... which means Fantasy Grounds C&C gaming. How's that ruleset coming along? I heard it was scant weeks or less away from being released. Does that still hold?
Cheers

Ya know, I have every issue of ROM Spaceknight ever printed. Alas, I lost the Parker Bro. toy years and years ago.
Regarding the C&C ruleset, you heard true. It has been coded and we are busy cleaning up the 'unexpected features'

I dropped out of active reading ~4 years ago. My wife informed me that I was spending too much on Batman titles...
I knew nothing about Annihilation Conquest until I found it on Wikipedia...very cool!

I used to collect comics throughout the 80s and my Comicbook Store had the red box (Basic D&D) and I bought it in '86.
I played a lot of games since then. GURPS was/is my favorite. Especially the CarWars RPG version Autoduel.
I dropped out of school and moved into my first apartment at 16. I started a gang with some other guys that lived nearby. The gang got too big and we split right after going to war with some other dudes. I got out by joining the Army.
I did a lot of work for the Army and got out and got a warehouse job. My bosses used me for a piece of TP and flushed me when my elbow got hurt.
I got another job and started hanging out with my family again. Then somebody got the bright idea to start a different kind of group and I joined it. Once again they got too big and I dropped out before I got too involved (saw that one coming this time, heh).
Then I got a job delivering furniture. I liked that job but didn't really like my boss.
A buddy of mine from the Army told me about his job being in private security. It sounded nice and I see a lot of old guys being security guards so I guess you can do that job for a long time. I didn't see any old guys delivering fridges or wide screens so I quit and got a job as a rent-a-cop.
My brother got me into MMORPGs on the internet, and I got my other brother into both RPGs on tabletop and MMORPGs. I played D&D:Online but didn't like it and ended up missing old D&D.
I went out and got the new 3.5 books and started a campaign with a few other players I played with back in high school that were still around and some new players that only played video game RPGs before. So we have a mix of old and new players. Been playing for going on two years straight now and branching off into other games from time to time.
I wrote a module and a half for d20 D&D but ended up arguing with the illustator and the kinda killed the whole project for now. Probably for good since I went and already spent the operating budget.
Right now I am reading Kingdoms of Kalamar and watching season one Heroes with Mrs.Charlie.
I have no kids, five cats, two cars, and a lot of overtime.
I quit smoking and drinking years ago but coffee has replaced my blood.
I like making people (minis) out of chipboard and drawing maps of imaginary places.
Oh, I'm thirty one (I think) but tend to forget the date for long periods of time so it often eludes me if asked.
My name is Eric Piper, and I have been playing rpg's since the early 80's, though life, careers, marriage, and children have created extensive periods in my life when I had to put gaming aside. I did, however, desperately cling to my collection, much to the disappointment of my wife who wanted me to get rid of "those freak books".
I am a veteran police officer, and formerly served on an undercover narcotics team as well as three years on our county swat team. I have also been fanaticly involved in the martial arts since I was 12, and currently hold multiple black belts in different styles of martial arts and run a successful studio in Vicksburg, Michigan.
My brother (a phd organic chemist) and I finally broke down after many years of denial and went to our first Gen Con (just a day pass to see what it was about) and we were blown away. As closet gaming career professionals we finally admitted that, yes, we too are geeks. Once you admit it, things get a lot easier. I then stumbled on C&C, and have since bought the manuals, Castle Zagyg, After Winter's Dark, and nine modules (much to my wifes dismay).
We have a gaming group of like minded career professionals who are very secretive of their gaming hobby; let's face it, the last thing I need is a greasy, long haired guy with a crocheted beret and a mariuana tshirt showing up at the police department with his accompanying body odor and loudly ranting about the tactical blunders of the Raid on the Hobgoblin Citadel. Yikes.
My group has mainly used 3.5 and also Gurps; the simplified C&C does not thrill them however. If you are a gamer in the Kalamazoo/Portage Michigan area, email me. If you have a mortgage and a career that leaves you with a migraine, you may fit in quite well.
Welcome Eric!
And I'd say welcome to Charlie Rock... but I think he's been here longer than me... hehehe
Well, welcome anyway!

If you knew me on a personal level, you would crack up to see how obsessed I have become with C&C in a very short time. With this last sale, I now own the manuals, nine modules, the Airhde Folio, Yggsburg, and the East March Folio(This one I am still waiting on, as Gary is personally signing these). I have been literally preaching C&C to our gaming group like a true Crusader; I may be forced to convert them at swordpoint (but its for their own good, right?)

Watch out for my son, Valerian. In the online games he runs he calls himself the "CK of DOOOOM!!" Since he is still a young teenager he may feel the need for a "turf war".
