Yup, I'm still around Montreal myself. Maybe an hour from there. You may have seen my work in one of Mongoose publishing's books. I did many illustrations for them in the past years. Conan, Babylon 5, Starship Troopers and many other fantasy d20/OGL books as well.

My name is Casey Canfield. I'm 32. Born in South Dakota, raised in Rural Upstate New York, had a journeyman phase in Chicago, and I'm back with my family near Poughkeepsie, New York. For the time being.

I started gaming with my brother using the Mentzer red box, and I've been hooked ever since. Our games of choice were a basic/advanced D&D hybrid and Star Frontiers (with a little James Bond 007 on the side), though more recently I'm into C&C (obviously) and Call of Cthulhu.
My best teacher of DMing was my band instructor, who was a real bastard.
When the Trolls posted the open call for contributions to C&C, I was in the process of developing my own rules light version of D20...I figured that rather than duplicate effort, I'd try to help with C&C. I am proud to have been involved with it, and part of the discussions regarding the Siege Engine, as well as initial playtesting of just about every iteration of the design.
I helped edit and write part of the C&C PHB, and spent *weeks* editing the text for the Boxed Set and M&T. I had the pleasure of running the first post-production game from Castle Zagyg: Yggsburgh at Gen Con 2005, where it premiered (the boxes were just cracked open). I also wrote Fingers of the Forsaken Hand, and I have another module forthcoming. I also contribute to The Crusader, and run the C&C Society in between.
Steve Chenault is one of the best DMs/CKs/GMs that I've ever seen. Honestly. Davis is the best idea guy, and has some killer stories. Go to a con and meet these guys. Peter is a trip, and is a very careful gamer. Robert Doyel is one of the nastiest gnome assassins I've seen. Sieg (Mike Stewart) plays the part of a crispy knight very well, and his wife Indigo Rose (Elizabeth) is a very very skilled player.

Hmm... I missed this thread the first time through.
My name is Scott Sutherland. I'm 37 years old, born in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. I have a bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Guelph, and what you yanks would call an "associate degree" in meteorology from York University in Toronto. The York program was actually called the "Certificate in Meteorology Programme", but involved a lot more than typical "certification" does.
I'm married to a wonderful woman named Caroline, whom I met the first day of classes at York. She was studying towards her bachelor's in atmospheric science at the time, so we both were in the same classes. She's 8 years younger than me, which suits me just fine. We have no kids and will not be having any either.
After school and getting married, I worked as an Air Quality Scientist for the Ontario Gov't (anyone living in Ontario, I was one of the guys issuing Smog Advisories), and then as a meteorologist for The Weather Network (not on-camera though), alongside my wife.
Last year, she was accepted to Yale University for PhD work and decided to go for it. It only took her a year to decide it wasn't for her, and that the PhD program seems to be set up to just browbeat you into thinking your stupid and completely worthless, so she applied for work with The Weather Channel in Atlanta and was hired in September. I'd been working at a paper-testing lab the whole time... not really exciting work, so I wasn't sad to leave it behind. heh.
So, we're here in Atlanta now, her working and me being the house-husband. I'm filling my time by writing for Gary's Yggsburgh project, some online gaming (varioud AD&D games and WoW), and thinking up some ideas for possible future writing work.
As for roleplaying, I started playing with my friends with the Holmes basic set back in 1979. By the end of that year I'd hooked up with more friends who were playing AD&D and quickly migrated into that ruleset. With that group I tried out many, many other games, Palladium Fantasy, Champions, Marvel Superheroes, Top Secret, Star Frontiers, Gamma World, Thieves' Guild, Mekton... the list goes on. Of all those, Gamma World and AD&D remained my favourites. I think the battle still rages as to which one is best. I think I love them both equally, but for slightly different reasons.
Unfortunately, I didn't get to play Gamma World very much, so I stuck with AD&D, switching groups now and then, until 2nd edition came out, but didn't like that edition so much. Switched to West End Games Star Wars sometime after that, and played that until D&D3e was introduced. I tried it out, but ultimately I found it far too bloated and frustrating. I started up a game of Basic D&D, this time with my newly-acquired Moldvay set, which I'd never owned or played until then, and re-discovered my love for the game. I've been concentrating more on AD&D since then. I discovered C&C when I started hanging out on Dragonsfoot (honestly, I still dont' remember how I ended up there... pure luck with The Google, I'm sure. heh).
I'm really enjoying the AD&D games I'm in, and I hope to start up a C&C game soon (Dragonlance Chronicles, perhaps?), but I think what I'd really like is to get into a tabletop game again. All the ones I'm in are online these days.

I started playing D&D when I was about 1 3 (I'm nearly 40 now). Played AD&D all through high school and some in college. After college, I had much less time to play and several members of the old gaming group moved away.
I've started a 2nd edition AD&D campaign a couple times over the past 5 years or so. Course work and the dissertation have taken up much of my time as have my wife and two kids.
I played 3rd edition D&D a few times and decided that it wasn't for me. I didn't really dig the rules as a player and I knew that if I ever DMed with that rule set I'd go nuts. I know lots of people enjoy 3rd edition, but it just never felt right to me.
At GenCon Indy in 2005, I picked up the C&C Players book and the M&T book. Very cool stuff! I decided that if I was going to ever run a game again, I'd run C&C. Off and on for the last several months, I have been working on a campaign setting. It is starting to come together for me. My wife and two kids are interested in playing. My wife has never played any RPG. Neither have my kids (girl 8yrs old, boy almost 6yrs old). Both kids are excited about playing though. We play lots of other games (board games, card games, and miniature games) so I think they'll be able to handle C&C with some help.
If we get this little campaign started, I'll try to post a description of our sessions. In any event, I am very glad to have found C&C and this forum.

Where are my manners? I started playing RPG's because of Joe Dever's Lone Wolf and Steve Jackson's Fighting Fantasy game books in the early 80's. (French Versions) Then I played a game Called Oeil Noir, a game, which was years ahead of D&D at the time, even today's D&D 3rd ed.+ (Dark Eye which has now been re-published under new rules by Fasa.) Then I started playing Games Workshop's Talisman and eventually I got into the Red Box of D&D. I played AD&D for quite a few years until I switched to 2nd ed. then the 3rd and finally found my home with C&C where we are having the best fun again. (Like we did in the 80's) Beside my own Modern RPG, (A work in progress...) we only play C&C.

That's pretty cool!! I started on the same, French Translated, Fighting Fantasy books! They were fantastic. I had almost forgotten about them until you mentioned it. Actually, I still have some of them... somewhere.

Weren't those "livres dont vous tes le hros"? Because these books really were my first contact (in elementary school) with the fantasy genre, followed by fantasy board games (HeroQuest style) which finally led me to full blown RPGs (in high school) and here I am today...those were good times...

Sorry for being away for what feels like forever.
Back injury, PC blowing up on me and then surgery on my wrist has played merry hell with my online time (thats when I've had any that is).

Ok, guess I'll jump in here..my name is Allen Shock and I am a 45 year old gamer from Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. I began gaming in probably the spring of 1979. The first thing I ever did with an RPG was roll up a Traveller character About two weeks later I played D&D for the first time...at that time we were using the AD&D Monster Manual and Player's handbook, and the original D&D books for everything else. We were quite pleased when the DMG finally arrrived I started GMing regularly in 1982 with a Top Secret campaign and did not play AD&D very much for awhile due to hassle from religious friends. I started playing again around 1989. In the meantime, I ran a lot of FASA Star Trek, GURPS, Champions, and numerous other RPGs. I got into D&D3 when it came out and actually liked it despite a series of issues with my group. 3.5 kinda threw me for a loop but I actually don't mind the game that much now, although I am greatly enjoying running C&C and AD&D1 again, as well as the new Chronciles of Ramlar game (I'm friends with the author). I'm also a big fan of WWE Know Your Role. I find myself enjoying some of the non-D&D versions of D20 more than D&D

My age annoys me; but I was born in the Year of the Fire Horse, so if that tells anyone how old I am, you win a lollipop (but you forfeit the lollipop if you mention the cursed number). I was born in Wiesbaden, Germany (although it was still West Germany then), because my father was in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed there at the time. For the same reason, I've lived in over a dozen different places from one end of the planet to the other (including my two favorites, Taiwan and Hawaii), so I don't feel comfortable saying I'm "from" anywhere in particular. At the moment, I reside in Dayton, Ohio.
I've been playing RPGs since D&D came in a box with cheap plastic dice whose edges wore round with use, and playing wargames even longer than that. (I remember SPI. I remember when Avalon Hill didn't belong to Whoresbro, and still made worthwhile games.) At one point, when mowing yards and trudging a newspaper route were my only sources of money, I thought Metagaming was the coolest game company on the face of the planet.
These days, I am a Graphic Artist / Designer (capitalized to lend it an air of importance), and I work almost entirely as a Freelance for the gaming industry. I find myself here because I've done some work for Steve (Planet Busters, a while ago; and now the Crusader magazine, and some other forthcoming projects), and he invited me to check out this forum.

Hi, this is my second time around (DaleB9). I changed my email and had to make a new profile. I miss this fhread the first time.

Since we have developed our Greyhawk to such detail (though non-canon), we are planning to use that as our setting and put the A series in the Adri Forest. I recently finished a conversion of Keep on the Borderlands to be put just north of the forest.
I always make it Origins and hope to see more C&C there this summer.

Ironically this falls just as a kid moved out and I have a game room all set up.
Since we have developed our Greyhawk to such detail (though non-canon), we are planning to use that as our setting and put the A series in the Adri Forest. I recently finished a conversion of Keep on the Borderlands to be put just north of the forest.
I always make it Origins and hope to see more C&C there this summer.

Divine Right is great, one of my first boardgames. I lost my original set but bought a (mostly) unpunched version from Noble Knight Games for $125 (!) Ah well, it was worth it.
BTW, you know the original creators of DR put out a 20th aniiversary set in the late 90s. Dunno if it was better but it apparently had some pdf goodies and dealt more with the Llori Empire and the Scarlet Witch King.

Hullo all, new here, at this board that is, so lets see...... I am 36, father of three amazing kids, married to the perfect wife ( we've converted each other in music and book genre) who rpgs with me. I work in the chemical industry. Live just outside of Detroit. Shed a tear seeing #19 retire at Joe Louis arena the other night.
Been rpging since the early 80's, and now play on and off with more or less the same group. Seems the older you get the harder it is to get everyone together...
I feel like a kid on Christmas eve, as I await the arrival of my C&C set from a local store. Sounds like a great system. Unlike that commericial beast that I had to put to rest after it kept attacking my wallet and my imaginations sense of freedom.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I received the books yesterday and I am really impressed. What a great product for a superb price. The artwork is fantastic. My wife has already made her character, I got word out to my friends about this great line, and I eagerly await our first gaming session.
