Sharing some good news...

Post by Treebore »

for the New Year.

We refinanced our mortgage at 5% interest, fixed, lowering our monthly payment by $200.

On another note, Senator McCain has started a congressional investigation into my wife's VA case, but that can take up to 18 months. Still, hopefully this means things will be fixed within 18 months, something that has been going on for 3 years 6 months now. So that is promising news that will hopefully turn into fantastic news.

Compared to 3 1/2 years 18 months doesnt seem that long.
Great rates btw.

Cool deal on the mortgage.

I hope the investigation helps you guys out. Government red tape can make the most difficult things even more painful.

'Grats Robert!

Hope it turns out ok - and may I say, hopefully without steering into politics too far, probably a good thing for you personally that the election turned out as it did - just for the fact that your Senator can finally look into this without the distractions of national campaigning

True, considering we first asked him for help almost 3 years ago. Apparently the VA never recieved the inquiry we got a copy of. So apparently we should have followed up, and now we know how to do so.

Great to hear! Looks like '09 is looking better than '08 was for most of us!

Hopefully, Senator McCain can slap the VA around for you. Good news!

Sometimes, just the words "legislative investigation" really, really inspire bureaucrats to action.

Best of luck on this one Treebore. Hope your wife gets everything that she has coming from the VA, and then some.

Like I have said before, I went around and around with the VA and wasn't getting anywhere until another organization (the Texas Vets Commission) stepped in and challenged the VA's medical findings. The VA doesn't make it easy for service members to re-file or dispute findings. I am glad to see my fellow vets stick it to the VA when needed.

The thing is there is no problem with the medical findings. Every doctor, including 3 specialists, have all agreed she can't work, drive, etc... Its just the bean counters ignoring all the evidence and blatantly denying her.

Yes, its been acknowledged as service related too.

Ha! Been there, done that as you probably all know. Congratulations on the mortgage and hope your wife gets a big back payment. Hope to see y'all at some cons back there real soon (2010 if all works out). Still stuck in chaos, but I'm plugging away at it and it's still a lot of one step forward, two steps back but things are finally starting to go my way.
