I'm Sold
I subscribed to the Crusader a little while back, my first issue of the subscription being #13. After I got it, I flippe through it a few times but didn't have time to actually get to the meat and potatoes of it.
Well, today I've got a severe case of the Martian Death Flu and I'm able to do little else other than lay really, really still and will my body to hold down broth. Not the most exciting of activities, so I've got issue #13 and a stack of back issues I picked up from NKG laying next to the couch to provide me with entertainment as I try to recover from this virus of obvious extra-terrestrial origin.
The magazine has come a long way from the first few issues I picked up way back when. Great stuff and I definitely don't regret the subscription.
Keep it up Mr. Ward and you'll have a subscriber for life here.

What a kind thing to say. Steve does most of the difficult work as he writes several articles, but I do like to think I've changed the face of the magazine. It's going to change a lot more in the months to come. Steve is a great boss and is letting me do what I think is best for the magazine. I greatly appreciate your kind comments and I do indeed what to keep you and everyone else I can get as subscribers.
Anyone reading this, please seriously consider getting a subscription to the CRUSADER magazine. You will find it worth your time and money.
I greatly appreciate the "Mr. Ward" but would be pleased and proud if those of you saying good things called me Jim.
I use the James part when I'm trying to be official and the Jim when I'm dealing with my friends.
Respectfully,
James M. Ward

Yeah, you guys have definitely been making the magazine better and better, which is the only reason I am going to resubscribe ASAP. Since you have never made a D&D product I have yet to dislike, I have even greater confidence about the future of this mag, so laying down $36 doesn't intimidate me.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

I have all the Crusaders from 1 to 13 and you can definately see an improvement in the mag. Unfortunately, my subscription has ran out and I have to wait a month or so before I can resubscribe.

My New Year's resolution was to call TLG to renew my subscription!
I have not broken that resolution!
Seriously though... the mag looks good and I look forward to it getting a bit bigger too. Once I clear my plate a bit and get into my new routine for this new year, I hope to pitch a couple of article ideas.
In the meantime, I will anxiously await the new issues!

The last few issues really hit a Dragon vibe with me. This is a good thing. The mag is really coming into it's own and I am happy to consider myself a subscriber.

People you are making me blush! Thank you very much for your kind comments about me and the magazine. I would like to state that we at Troll Lords are more than willing to look at article ideas anyone has for the magazine. Let me say again that we are working on 800 words a page. When you put in a quarter page picture that uses up 200 words. We don't mind taking well written articles on other people's games. If you think we are good now, wait a few issues and you will be pleasantly surprised. I helped build DRAGON magazine up to 120,000 sales a month and I would like something like that to happen to Crusader.
It all starts with you subscribers, so please get on line and subscribe if you haven't already.
2009 is going to be a great year for Crusader.

Bravo Jim, Steve, Elizabeth and everyone who works on The Crusader. I've been very happy with the magazine and am very much enjoying the expansion and improvement.
My sub expires after issue #14, and I will renew for the year!!
Kudos - excellent work all.
Much appreciated.

Rhu, I just sent your re-up card today!!
Seriously, Jim and Liz are doing a great job getting this magazine up to speed and out the gate. If I could get a little ahead on my articles we would hit our schedule every month, but I get sidetracked with various and sundry other projects. But that doesn't take away from the magazine's growth, to which I owe Jim and Liz a kindly thankyou!
Davis is of the same mind. He sat and read 14 the other day and commented that the magazine has really come into its own (and yes, he hasn't read it in awhile! his subscription ran out! hahah)

I am glad that the magazine has gone monthly. Out of curiosity, is there a specific date each month before which submissions need to be received? I need to get Steve to let us advertise the C&CS more and Crusader would make things so much simpler...

Serleran, you always ask the difficult questions. It is a goal for me in the 2009 year to post the magazine to subscribers the first Friday of every month. We are working toward that goal, but won't hit it for a bit.
Consider that none of the people writing articles for the magazine get paid for their articles. We do it for magazines and our love to see our names in print, which is a really big kick.
I firmly believe we can get the magazine out in that time frame but it's going to take awhile and poor Liz is going to have to put out two magazines in one month sometime this year.
I'm unusually happy Davis of C&C liked 14, I wish I had a copy in my hand. Hopefully it will arrive today.

If I wasn't positive Steve would use it as an excuse to slack off and get even further behind, I think now is the time to put Crusader on hiatus for 3 to 4 months, build up a 3 to 4 issues "backlog" during that time, and then always be printing 3 to 4 months in advance.
Unfortunately we all know Steve only produces when the Executioners Axe is hanging over his head. So the idea will never work to get the benefits.
