i mentioned this n another forum, but I think if theCrusader did a series on Barbarian class variants it would be rad to the max.
What would the chances of seeing this be?

Of course, I do think the issue should be addressed, but I don't think the PHB is the right place for it. The CKG sections for customizing classes, that thing called Adventurer's Backpack, or, hell, just a free f'n download (or something in Crusader) that says "here's some ways to change this." People have options to that effect, already, thanks to James Mishler, I hear.
I think a series on many types of variant barbarians is realy cool idea and should be suggested to JW for inclusion in the Crusader. I'm picturing a page or so to each variant with distinct class abilities.
*Nordic shapeshifter: instead of berserker mode they change into a bear (some rw lore mentions this mythic ability.)
*American indian style: stealth abilities sharpened by years of hunting/tracking during midnight hours. (the way REH depicted picts in Beyond Black River)
*Mongol Golden Horde: mounted abilities and archery proficiency.
*Beasttamer: this guy could collect , tame, and master a variety of animal companions.
*Cold-blooded ravager: thrives in spreadingbloodlust and carnage by generating positive combat modifiers during combat via dealing damage. A combat momentum ability.
*Fetishist: recognizes and communicates with latent spiritual entities in a rangeof objects.

That would be cool IMO.
As I understand this post, it's basically to replace Primal Fury with something else, based on the Barbarian's background.
It's a lot like specialty priests.
To add some ideas: maybe a survival ability like the Ranger and or nature lore like the Druid, to have a role like a wilderness guy, but still distinct from ranger somehow.

A neat idea, indeed. I'm wondering if the focus of the barbarian was changed from the "wilderness" aspect (ala Unearthed Arcana) to something more akin to 3.x simply because it was infringing too much on the ranger's turf? But I think a series of articles on variants of all classes would be pretty darn nifty (not just the barbarian).
If TLG would decide to pull the trigger on this idea, I do think the barbarian needs to be addressed first.
