M&T of the Wilderlands 1 Expanded PDF and PRINT

Post by jamesmishler »

Monsters & Treasure of the Wilderlands 1 has been revised and expanded. It now includes 27 monsters, 16 treasures, and two maps. Most importantly, it is now extensively illustrated by Peter Bradley, including an awesome full-color cover! The price has risen to $10.95 ($8.00 in PDF), but those who already purchased it should be able to update for free (if you have a problem, let me know). Yes, the $10.95 MSRP is for the PRINT version, which should be heading to the printers tomorrow.

Subscribers can get a 50% off coupon for the PDF if they have not already purchased it (contact me at the Super Secret Subscriber E-Mail), and can use their print page credits toward the print version of the M&T when it becomes available.

Here's the complete sales text...

Over time players become complacent, sure in the knowledge that they have encountered every creature in the book and catalogued all treasures to be found. They wont be so certain when the judge pulls out a new book of 32 pages of monsters and treasures that theyve never seen before!
Monsters & Treasures of the Wilderlands 1 includes 27 new monsters designed for use with Castles & Crusades and the Wilderlands of High Adventure. Running the gamut from pesky 1 HD faeries to fallen 15 HD demi-gods, each monster includes details on ecology and society, powers and treasures. Some are hauntingly familiar, just enough so as to trip up the unwary adventurer, while others are entirely new and created from whole cloth.

Maps are included showing the most common locations these monsters are encountered throughout the Wilderlands and beyond. Though designed for use in the Wilderlands, every monster can find a home elsewhere, and is easily adapted into just about any fantasy campaign setting.

Also included are 16 new treasures, ranging from the least bauble to great and potent (and usually, most dire) relics. Each is tied to the Wilderlands, adding more detail to your Wilderlands campaign, though the histories can readily be altered to suit any campaign.

Hi James! Is there an ETA on the release of the print version of this?

I have been informed that the print copies will be in the mail to me tomorrow. UPS ground usually takes a couple of days, so most likely I can start selling them on Tuesday, with luck. Print job took longer than I had thought...

Pays to live close I guess. No problems with the mailing/envelope.

I like the map in the center with monster lair placements.

Yeah, I'm hoping mine will come before I leave for our trip but I'm not counting on it. So, guess I'll have mine waiting for when I get home.

Yup, same here on the e-mail. Though at the end of my e-mail was added:
"Don't tell Omote, but I sent you his copy too. HAHAHAHAHAHAH! That'll learn him."

Not quite sure what that was about.

Hmmm... you should have gotten an e-mail confirming that your package was sent. It went out yesterday.

Unfortunately, I was otherwise busy all day (helping a friend move), so orders that came in today will not go out until... drat, Friday, actually. I'm going to see Watchmen tomorrow at a matinee and won't be able to get to the post office. So orders today, tomorrow, and before 2:00 on Friday should go out Friday... barring other unforseen circumstances...

Sorry everyone, I'm behind on shipping. Ended up helping a friend move yesterday and today was in town to see Watchmen, blowing my chances to get to the Post Office.

Tomorrow Jodi is off work, so I should be able to get to the Post Office first thing.

Mine was waiting when I got home after work - very swift delivery, it sped from your side of the Atlantic to mine in just 5 days (even with a time-out for 'watching the watchmen'); now if you can just share the teleport without error secret with the TLG Massive, I can go ahead and order from the $10 sale without the usual shipping worries!

I've had a first flip through the M&TW too, and it really does look very good indeed, so thanks James, on both counts!

With this bit of information, I really hope the package waiting for me at the post office is the M&TW.

*EDIT* -- YAY! I got my copy and it arrived in great shape! Thanks James!

I like the map in the center, but what do the "white dotted line" and "black X" symbols stand for?

Borders and locations. X marks the spot.

Overall, the job on M&T of the Wilderlands 1 is so good that I have to ask, is there another one of these in the works? I know, James Mishler's plate is probably full to the brim, but this is a dam cool release.

I've already snuck a Cait Feall into my last C&C game!

It's a great accessory. I know James had expressed a bit of concern when the sizing was a bit off (and a bit larger) which he talks about on his blog:
http://jamesmishler.blogspot.com/2009/0 ... ddity.html

However, I think the size works. I mean, it's the Wilderlands after all! It should be larger than life!
Seriously, I'd be just as content if these continued in this size but I can understand the polybag concerns...

Yeah, I really like this, and the world map showing common locations for the various creatures is a great extra touch for the Wilderlands.

I would like more focus on the higher levels though, like above 9 HD creatures. Even though the numerous 1 to 3 HD creatures were cool, and a few 6 to 9 HD, but only 3 above 9 HD. So if possible I would like to see around 6 creatures for the higher levels. Preferably 15 to 20 HD.

If it's the wilderlands, you know there are going to be big baddies around the 15-20 HD challenge. I would agree, let's get some big'uns in the next one.

Okay, for once, I can actually make this happen...

Look for Monsters & Treasure of the Wilderlands 2: Colossi of Rhadamanthia, coming soon... All monsters 10 HD+, all treasures are Artifacts or Relics!

SWEET!

A quick question -- you mentioned the first 50-or-so copies were a slight bit larger. Is this something you'll have 'corrected' should you have another batch printed or could you be thinking of sticking with the size? I ask 'cause I like the size.

In the meantime, I'm going to show the first one off to some of my fellow Canadian crusaders and see if I can get a few more people to check out AGP.
