DUNDRACON
Hey folks, I'm flying out to California tomorrow bright and early (that is the 13th). I'll be running the Mobile troll Shop at Dundracon in Saint Ramon right outside of Oakland in the Bary area.
If you are in the neighborhood come on out and join me! I'm bringing some perfect bound copies of the 3rd printing of the PH and 2nd printing of the MT!
Its going to be lots of fun!
Steve

The more snuggle time Aldo and Steve get at this show, the less lovey-dovey they are at GTS and Gen Con. Thank goodness...

The Bary area huh? Look, just because they sell alcohol is not a reason to call it a Bary area. OK, so maybe there are a lot of drunks and homeless crawling around making Davis feel pretty much at home, but that, too, is no reason to call it a Bary area... be reasonable man! Pick me up some Rice-A-Roni, will you?

San Ramon is hardly the SF Bay Area. Hell that is near Dublin and Pleasanton- which may be called East Bay, but not like San Francisco at all. Still CA- but way less liberal leaning. Not many vagrants or bums panhandling for spare change- so Davis may feel out of place

Come listen to the story 'bout a troll named Steve
Poor gaming mogul barely kept the troll's a' fed
Then one day he was printing up some books,
When over the viddy-phone Aldo gave him a look
(Steamy look that is, Hubba Huba, Frisco style).
Well the next thing you know old Steve's a flying out
Troll folk said Steve get yer ass out there
Said California is the place you oughta be
So he loaded up the troll bag and he moved out to Ramon
(San Ramon, that is, gaming geeks, Goodman guys).
Well now it's time to say goodbye to Steve and all the trolls
They like you folks, never make you pay through the nose
You're all invited to this game con by the sea
To have a heaping helping of their dungeon mastery
(Trolls of the Coast, that's what they call 'em now,
Nice customers Y'all come back now, ya hear?)

Yup, next town north of Dublin- i lived right on the border of the two towns. Tons of people commute to the city and Peninsula from there- only 20 minutes to get to the shore of SF Bay, and another 15 to get to the peninsula. (I did that drive every day for 3.5 years.) So San Ramon is still Bay Area i think, even though it is about 20 degrees warmer in the summer... heh.

OK Fizz, it is the east bay for sure. It is the recruiting experience talking when I say it is not part of the Bay. The propensity to enlist is far higher in that area and the dominant buying motives tend to be more adventure and service to country.
I was hoping to make it out again this year, since Tadashi Ehara, Erol Otus, and Larry DiTillio were also heading up this year and I was looking forward to catching up with them, but work's not flying me out so I'm not doing this time around. Perhaps next year.
Have fun!

Crud! Wish I had read this earlier. Well, it probably wouldn't make a difference 'cause I don't have the time this weekend to go. But a good number of my Vacaville customers should be there. Lets hope an increase in C&C sales results from Steve's visit!

Well I can't speak for Steve Chenault, Joe Goodman or Aldo Ghiozzi, but I enjoyed watching them flounder in the Tomb of Horrors., heh, heh, heh. What a great old module!
This was my first Dundracon, but it looked busy to me. There appeared to be a good mix of miniatures, board games and role-playing. I even saw a group playing Titan (the new version).
How cool! I ran into Joe and Aldo at End Game in Oakland. I was hoping Steve was with them! But alas, he had been dropped off at the airport already.Melf wrote:

The show was luke warm sales wise but good in other respects. But Luke is right that flipping module was awesome. First time I've played a 'careful' character. I've never made it through Tomb and was determined to live this time! We are going to finish it up at Gary con.
But I have a great experience to relate that will go up here and on the blog, hopefully today. It was AWESOME...and actually stemmed from a sale that Luke made while kindly watching the TLG booth while I did a podcast.

Haha I did TWO podcasts! Interviews for podcasts actually. Ogre Cave and the other one is a really cool name that escapes me right now. Six foot die 20 or some such. I'll look around and link them.
I did a deal with Black Diamond Games in Concorde too, so if any of you Cali folks need some C&C stuff head over there and scoop it up. Gary, the owner, says he has trouble moving C&C in his shop!

If you're closer to the Vacaville area, come by and show your C&C love! Roleplaying games sell slow in my shop in general. Everybody seems to secretly buy them online. My inventory manager is hinting to me that he wants to drop C&C. Hell no! But it shows what the deal is. Most everyone I meet online who buys C&C stuff buys it online. It's no wonder b&m stores find it hard to support it.
I'm telling ya, if you're store stocks little or no C&C, start special ordering it so they know they can move it. Once they know that, they'll be more comfortable investing valuable capital on it and keeping it in stock. I only wish I had the spare cash to carry a wider selection of C&C.

Was there. Sick and tired most of the weekend. Picked up on a seminar with Steve and Joe. Got the invite, but knew I couldn't do it with the commitments I'd made. I'm planning C&C for ConQuestSac. It will be slow, but I'm determined to get back to C&C goodness. Serl, put me down as a free mage in that Domesday Book.

Is ConQuestSac in Sacramento CA? I need to get spun up on the local Cons. I've been on the Central Coast since 2005 and have not gone to anything - except Dundracon last week.
