Troll Con VII, July 10-12, 2009 Little Rock, AR

Post by huds0n »

Hey all,

Just wanted to let everyone know that we will have some updates for TC VII coming very soon. We are planning some great things for this year's Con as we look to make the event bigger and better than last years. So keep an eye out here and on the TC page, http://www.trolllord.com/cons/trollcon.html

Thanks,

Richard

McBain speaks true to form. We have a guest of honor slated we'll announce soon as well as mucho gaming.

I hope you all plan to make the trip, no matter where you are from! Arkansas in June is not a sight to miss. Its warm with too much humidity, sudden thunderstorms abound, the sun is out and the skies are an amazing blue!

This is starting to look very doable for me and it's a Con I really want to attend. When the wife gets home I think I'll talk to her about booking a hotel room now.

I don't know how this got stuck in my head, but I swear I remember seeing something somewhere about there possibly being a demo run of C&C basic at Troll Con. Is this really a possibility or am I just dreaming stuff up now?

I ask because right now, I look on target to make the Con this summer (if all goes well I'll be paying for the hotel the end of next month) and my son (who's going to be 8 by the Con) is debating on whether or not he wants to go with me (a weekend of C&C sounds good to him. The drive to get there does not. heh)

I know. Pretty sad huh?
I was actually pretty disappointed about that since the con was only about 2hrs away. I had been planning to attend for awhile, even had the money set aside and scoped out the con site so I knew how to get there when I was up in dallas at the beginning of the month. Then wham. I hadn't run a fever in 10 stinkin' years then got stuck with one for 4 days and lived in my game room the entire time to keep from getting the kids sick.

Plus, fevers turn me into a wussy "go nowhere" dwarf. I'm not accustomed to 'em.

hah I'm not sure about Basic. We had planned on running a Basic game at Troll Con last year but we failed to. We will definately have a copy of Haverseters there however, and that is C&C for kids which is sounds like your son would fit perfectly. I'll make McBain put it in the schedule and maybe wrangle Jason or Mac into running a game on Saturday.

Thanks,

Steve

I'll run a game, Steve. I love running game for kids. Having monsters attack them ruthlessly. Savage disembowelment. Seeing them cry as I describe how their bodies were mangled, then eaten, by orcs. Ahhh... I love the kids.

What is the convention rate at the Holiday Inn supposed to be?

The reason I asked is because they said $149 per night, with me staying Thursday to Sunday. Can anyone hook me up with a better place nearby? I would be arriving around 5:20 PM on Thursday, American Airways, and leaving Sunday evening, around 7:20 PM.

OK, I called them directly and they said you guys have no "blocked off" rooms, and that you would have to give us 3 digit codes to get a group discount rate.

They said the room would be $119+tax as it is.

So if there are nearby hotels, preferably travel by foot to the convention, because I don't want to rent a car, I would appreciate contact info/links/addresses so I can see what I can get via discount channels on the internet.

Treebore,

Hold off on the Holiday Inn. We are currently looking at moving to a larger venue for TC VII. We should know for sure if this will happen in the next couple of weeks. If we do remain at the Holiday Inn, i believe the room rates for TC should be $99 a night. But i will confirm that as soon as we are set in our location.

Thanks,

Richard

We are really looking at expanding the venue this year. Troll Con used to pull in over 120+ attendees, its time to gear that back up!

With that in mind we have a new Honored Attendee this year, someone everyone here is familiar with (we'll post that tonight methinks). I'll be writing an exclusive adventure for the Aufstrag setting that will be available there and McBain is looking at a writing contest for attendees, plus the raffle and so much more.

So make plans to come to LITTLE ROCK in JULY!

Let me know ASAP, plus I was told they are already short on rooms for that weekend. In fact they claimed they were offering me the last available room.

Here is an idea, is there a hotel near one of your houses, and if so, would one of you guys in Little Rock be willing to let me ride with you?

What are the taxi services and bus systems like?

Taxi and buses in LR = crap

I'll be there everyday. When you get a room, let me know. I'll pick you up.

Cool! Got a phone number and address for a good hotel along the route from your house to the convention center, or just close to your house?

I'm gonna go ahead and say it before someone else does: Do not get a hotel near my house. I live in the... less than desirable part of Little Rock. Once a venue is decided upon, I'll recommend a hotel along the route.

OK, yeah, I don't want to spend my sleep time listening to, um, parties. So I'll just have to be patient.

Hey everyone,

Look for an update concerning the venue for TC VII in the next 24 hours. I can't say much just yet, but i can that due to the success of last years event that we're expanding our location, which will allow to hold over double the number of gamers from Troll Con VI.

More gamers = more gaming event goodness for everyone.

We are finally about a month away and thank god I finally got my Space Marine finished just finished the final part the Backpack now, unfortunatly we have boxers so I had to redo the chest and back and build a new leg piece after they tore up those parts on me but finally I'll be there.

On a side note is there another way to pay for this besides paypal?

Shadoes said: sigh this year I will not be able to make it. My band has a gig that same weekend in KC. Shadoes, you play in a band? Me too.

Thankfully, I'm gig-less that weekend. Although, I'm going to have to miss Styx for the first time since the 1990's to be at TrollCon. I haven't made my reservation, but I'm doing it up in style. KOA Kampground baby! A true gamer sleeps in his vehicle, but has access to the much-need shower. I can do it for two nights...60-65.00!

Is there a DESIRABLE part of Little Rock?? Well, maybe that big library, or that tin-shack with out door plumbing(a.k.a.TLG headquarters). I'm only joking.

Horrible news... My work has decided to schedule me for training the weekend of TC, so I can't be there. Steve said he was just going to cancel it since I wouldn't be there, but I talked him out of that. I know the Con will carry on without me.

Vaya con Dios, mi amigos.

OK, just sent 4 "donations" for my 3 kids and I. My wife doesn't believe she will be making an appearance at the Con. She expects to be fully wiped out by her rock hounding efforts.

I have no doubts she is correct.

In fact we will be worrying about her.
