Victorious.....

Post by Grey »

Is there any info about this game? (apart from it being victorian superheroes)

Is it close to C&C (such as PulpSiege appears to be), or a different take on the Seige engine (more like StarSiege)?

Any hints as to the sources/ ideas behind it?

Just wondering
D.

It uses the SIEGE Engine, and abilities are purchased based on slots available -- ie, you get X and can pick Y, or make Z better. At least, last time I had the "current playtest" which was a long time ago.

From my understanding, Victorious is closer to C&C than StarSiege is. This is something I'm hoping to see soon enough.

Yes, I'd say its about 90% compatible with C&C....though obviously their "power level" would be up there.

It has a magic system of its own, but options to use C&C spells if you wanted to.

The inspiration is basically a "Literary Victorian Era" a la Steampunk or League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. There will even be subsections for one to play a "modern Superheroes" game if you wished. Either one set in today, or an alternative 2009 that evolved from Vernian inventions of the 19th century.

I'm hoping this will be out before the end of the year, but there is a big art hangup currently.

Hope this helps,

Mike

Sounds pretty good to me
And I personally like the sound of the 'compatability' with C&C, so another game to look forward too!

Cheers

Agreed. I've been curious about a SIEGE supers game for some time now.

I intend to try to corner Steve at Troll Con (assuming I can go) and get an official "Yea" or "Nay" on this so I know what to do going forward.

As soon as I know, you'll all know.
I do know Steve is planning for CKG to take total priority so I imagine it won't be "On the Anvil" prior to the CKG release. Just FYI...

We had (I think) a great playtest of the current Victorious rules at Troll Con yesterday afternoon. Thanks to Treebore, Titania and Breakdaddy for sitting in and using the pre-gen characters provided, and sorry for not being able to get those illustrations of the characters printed out (stupid hotel printer...)
The adventure Sieg ran was called "Night of the Jackal" (if I remember correctly), and would be a free included adventure with the game should it ever finally see print! Sieg can give more detail, but I enjoyed it and especially enjoyed playing with the aforementioned people. You all rock!

No, I didn't put her up to this.
But I appreciate the playtesters of V! and hope all enjoyed themselves. I spoke to Steve about publishing schedules and art issues and it looks like this sucker might just make publication. Not immediately, but once the Trolls clear some of the backlog product in the pipe.

A fun little scenario, and I never got a chance to let you guys inspect the back of the carriage holding the "New Absinthe" that was passed out at the pub!

Yeah, we had a lot of fun. I didn't think a Victorian Age supers game would appeal to me, but it did, greatly! My daughter liked it a lot too, to the point where we have talked about it at least half a dozen times since Troll Con.

When we told my sons about the game they were envious of missing it too!

I was ambivalent before, but I am glad to hear that the Trolls will be looking to publish this. I now hope much sooner than later!

There is no doubt Lady Derringer will go first, or at the very least be tied for first place. She is one fast moving woman!

Even better news on this project... There's talk about a "basic" book of this coming out before the end of the year!
Keep all posted,
