I finally subscribed

Post by GameOgre »

The last magazine I subscribed to was Dragon, and I had complaints about it even though I Subed to it for over two decades off and on. I was crushed when it finally stopped circulation and went into online form only.

When I found Castles and Crusades I looked into Crusader but to be bluntly honest about it I found it lacking. In substance as well as look and definitely in professionalism. (Sorry Steve I guess you will have to live with only being otherworldly awsome at some things ).

Now don't get me wrong I still bought them from time to time because they also sometimes carried many fine articles. Several of my players buy them as well so often I got a chance to read those I did not buy.

I can say the Crusader has gotten better and better and with the last few issues it has finally reached a level that it is no longer a purchase I want to miss.

So now after all this time I am a Subscriber again!! Thanks for putting out a quality magazine!

Dragon magazine went through this too. When I heard who the new editor was I knew Crusader was going to make the final transition to being a consistently worthwhile magazine. I only got on board with issue 3, and often had to wait many months for the next issue, but its been cool to see it grow from a young publication to a solid publication that I am sure is still going to continue to improve as the months go on, just like Dragon did.

Now if TLG is ever able to do their own Dungeon magazine.... I won't gross you out by telling you what would happen.

I already have the name chosen for it, and I think its rather obvious. "Crusades". So we will have Crusades and Crusader magazines.

Hey!! Dreams can come true! So I'm gonna dream!

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Really? Not Castles?

Castle Magazine even has a nice ring to it.

I agree. Or The Castle. Maybe even Castles Quarterly.

I like Crusades because going on Crusade was an euphemism for a grand, long, often hard and painful adventure.

Castle is only about defense and staying at home.

Plus it would fit better with Crusader magazine, a Crusader going on Crusade.

It's too similar though. Might as well name it The Other Crusader Magazine. It will confuse people many times over.

"I just got the newest issue of Crusade."

"The one with the insane chain-swinging orc?"

"No, that's Crusader."

"That's what you just said."

Abbot meets Costello.

Hmmmmmmmm,

Castles Quarterly has a real nice ring to it. It's a great name and if it only comes out quarterly it won't be a lot of nasty work for me. However, we still have six months or more to go to make our beloved CRUSADER a sure thing.

Thank you all very much for your kind words. There are a lot of people working hard to make the magazine work including all you wonderful people who subscribe.

I can still use a lot more writers doing their own C&C adventures.

No rush. In the meantime you can stick them in the Crusader.

Yeah, your probably right. I keep giving too much credit to common intellect, despite definitely knowing better.

Maybe, we'll see a "Best of the Crusader Magazine"!

Wait another year or so and we'll have enough for a hardback.

Castles Quarterly does sound pretty good. I'd love an adventures-only publication. That would rock hard. Until then, I guess I'll be satisified with Crusader.
