For crying out loud. Do your best with the rolls the dice have given you. This is what separates the men from the boys... -Kayolan
That has to be my all-time favorite clip!! I remember seeing this movie for the first time in the early-mid '70s and was hooked on fantasy ever since. A couple of years later a friend of my introduced me to a game called D&D and the rest was history!
Jason and the Argonauts is one of my most favorite movies, especially due to that fight scene!!

Same experience for me too! But let's not forget all those great Sinbad movies too, with the Ray Harryhausen effects. All these movies are on dvd now. Look for a dvd pack called "The Fantastic Films of Ray Harryhausen: Legendary Monster Series" It has Jason and the Argonauts, 7th Voyage of Sinbad, Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger, Golden Voyage of Sinbad and the 3Worlds of Gulliver.
Fun stuff.

Yep, dems some very good movies. I think I have most of Ray Harryhausen's movies - all of them pretty darn good. Another one I like is the Lost Valley of Gwangi. Kind of a King Kong of the Southwest!

Agreed. That was some fantasy goodness right there. I wasn't into D&D after first seeing that movie, but that got me very interested in mythology (it wasn't until a few years later I go into D&D).
And I think it's because of that fight - I've always imagined skeletons pretty quick undead.

God, I love Harryhausen movies.
And did you notice how no one tried to stab the priest while he was making his soliloquy or try to stop him from performing the summoning ritual? And they waited patiently for the skeletons to rise instead of buggering off back to the ship and casting off? Jason and his boys knew how to respect cinematic license - not like most gamers I know who are so busy rolling to hit they never stop to listen to a villain's well-rehearsed speech, in which he reveals his evil schemes.

Leave it to players to muck things up.

Maybe they were just trying to figure out what he was talking about - probably had no idea what the heck was coming their way. They were probably thinking, "What the hell is that chuckle-head doing, mumbling and throwing teeth around? What a dork!"

Or no one noticed how he carefully cast Sanctuary just before doing his thing ! (All my evil Priests have one version of THAT spell on their sheets ready to go... the only way I found to get MY rehearsed RPs to any end at all)
POST SCRIPTUM: Seeing this feed here reminded me of the really well done MAZES & MINOTAURS thing some of you might have heard about (or not)... Now i wonder how you could convert the thing to C&C...
