[Poll] What is your favorite part about gaming

Post by CharlieRock »

I'm leaving the defination of low level and high level subjective to you all. Some may say it is anything under name level. Some would say anything after second level. I divide the game as "does the world react to the characters more then they react to it".

My favorite part is character creation. Especially with C&C. Or "seeding" towns with NPCs.

I picked low-level gaming because what I really like is the in-character roleplaying and story development, which I think happens more in the lower levels because the PCs aren't too powerful yet.

Interesting poll.

For the purpose of this poll, I have to go with playing low-level characters. There is just something amazingly fun, heroic (or anti-heroic depending on the game) with characters who can lose everything. Superheroes fear very little, and powerful adventurers are the same way. Danger, and the fact that you may have to cut and run when the going gets too tough is what low-level gaming is all about. OMG that Dagger hit CAN KILL ME?!

Sweetness.

The poll is incomplete.

You should've posted an entry that stated: Total Domination Against Your Enemies!!!

In regards the original post and poll options, I prefer mid-high level, around 7-11, right when you start to get the really cool and generally versatile spells but aren't quite up to going to the planes and taking out Asmodeus -- its also when you can shine and start to produce your magic and get beyond the general confines of the preconceived. This is also the time when the majority of class abilities kick in, or start to become more useful and you attain that "I am more than a peasant" game style thing going... its like the focus turns in many ways, or opens the options a lot more.

low level gaming (2nd-7th level). After 7th level, it becomes too super-hero-y (IMHO)

Man, I like most of the reasons for gaming! I went with character creation, because I always tend to visualize my character (or NPCs) while I create them. But in order, I like creating characters, low-level gaming, character advancement, and high-level gaming (and I guess snacks would be last - though I can do without those ).

I agree with Ser... I didn't vote because there is no "mid-level" option. I will say that low-levels can be fun, but it's also very cool to see the players and their PCs come into their own at the mid-levels.

I had to pick snacks man! Just 'cause it was on the list.

Imagine my surprise when I saw I wasn't the first!

Seriously... it's all of it but, above all, socializing with friends.
