A Thank You GaryCon I

I just wanted to thank everybody who came out to GaryCon to remember Gary and his passion and contribution to gaming.

From my view, and I think Lukes as well, (I think he will post his own thoughts at some point) the con was far better that we thought it would be. The reason for that was all you who attended.

This event was very dear to us and by you all showing up and donating your time and money you showed that is was very dear to you as well. And at the heart of it that is exactly what the con is about, fondly remembering a man we all held close to us or touched our lives deeply.

So thank you for coming to GaryCon I, you definitely inspired us to try again with GaryCon II.

Also I would like to thank everybody who gave of their time and energy to make the con happen. So here we go

Thank you Luke

Thank you Elise

Thank you Heidi

Thank you Bill

Thank you Dale

Thank you Frank

Thank you Tim

Thank you Tom

Thank you Jim

Thank you Mike

Thank you Kenzer and Company

Thank you Chris

Thank you to everybody I forgot to mention

With much gratitude,

-KR

Hey Kerry!

You forgot yourself! But, then again, it would have been a bit odd to thank yourself, would it?!

So, "Thank You, Kerry!!" for all your hard work too!

Its great to hear things went so well and that another is likely to be planned. That is the most fitting tribute, I think, to endure and continue. Thanks for putting this together, even if I could not be there.

Hi All,

What an awesome event! GaryCon I was definitely a huge success in my opinion. I am grateful to all those folks that attended and I must give special recognition to several people that volunteered a lot of time and effort to make GaryCon a magical event.

A heartfelt thank you to:
Tim Kask- he produced a new OD&D adventure for GaryCon I, "The Tower of the Mad Wizard". He even gave me a pre-production copy of the module- Hooty Hoo! And he auctioned off the #1 copy to help support GaryCon.
Frank Mentzer- he ran the 1st module ever produced at GaryCon I and did a fantastic job with the auction.
Jim Ward- he ran a fun game of Metamorphasis Alpha, it was great to fight giant telepathic kimono dragons with a turtleshell shield and a spear. However, I failed to get past the security bots- I was a filthy mutant by that point. Good times!
Mike Carr- for coming on very short notice to run Fight In The Skies, a long time GenCon tradition. I even got a kill before being forced to land due to some serious engine and tail crits.
Dave Kenzer and Jolly Blackburn- they showed up with massive amounts of Kenzer Co product to give away to all that donated to GaryCon. I can't thank them enough!
Tom Wham- He did the artwork for the black GaryCon t-shirt and played several games of Dragon Lairds and other cool board games too.
Kerry Bourgoine- who ran lots of Adventurer games as well as helping me with registration, badges, designing and bringing the cool GaryCon banner. A true friend!
Steve Chenault- for helping me get organized and making my vision of GaryCon happen.
Dale Leonard- a friend that flew in from VA and volunteered to work the door all day Saturday.
Chris Hoffner- for running the GaryCon website and offering assistance in many other areas.
Deekin (aka The Keeper)- the chili was fantastic!

I am humbled by all the people that turned up and supported GaryCon! I can't wait to do it again next year!

....& a BIG THANK YOU to the Gygax family for allowing us to be apart of GARYCON I. Had a blast! Now, let's get a planning committee together & start rolling on GARYCON II. It'll be next month, right?!

Thank you, Luke and the rest of the Gygax family and those others who help in the effort for having this event. I very happy that you are eager to run this event next year.

I was a victim in Wards Metamorphis Alpha game as well, ripped apart by the komodo dragons, but had already accumulated numerous mutations and grievious injuries. I now understand why the original Metamorphis Alpha game didn't have an experience system

Oh and Buttmonkey - I was actually looking around at tags but didn't catch you Derek!

Well Seskis, you'll just have to try to make it down for Gaming Hoopla on April 25th. I believe Mr. Wham & a few of his crew will be attending. I'm trying to convince Chris Clark & his followers (ICGD) to come up. & it's about two miles closer for you than GARYCON was. No excuse now.

Except that I'm directing 12 Angry Jurors at my university and it opens on the 29th... so the weekend before is always the evil crunch of tech and final hair-pulling insanity that goes into the production....

But I will be at both LGGC and at GenCon this year.

I hope to make it next year. Maybe it can be moved to early May to make it warmer?
Isn't Jeff Grub in Wisconsin too?

Thanks friend, but there are so many others who did so much behind the scenes to make GCI a success. To make a complete list would be almost an impossible task.

Everyone that showed up (both in spirit & physical form) did what they could to help in remembering the passing of our friend, mentor, and family member.

I'm just looking forward to next years gathering... hope to see you there Rhu!
