Star Siege production credits...

Post by moriarty777 »

Hi, I'm looking through the PDF of the Star Siege set (my box set is at home) and I noticed that there doesn't seem to be any other credits save for the author, playtesters, and a few people who helped with the sample setting.

I'm not sure if this is the same in the actual box set but I will assume it is.

I was wondering who did the editing, the layout, interior art.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I figured Peter did the cover art. But I wasn't sure with the interior art.

And, if I am blind, please let me know where I can find this information.

Thanks!

M

Hmm.. pretty sure my box set had all the credits in it... including playtesters. I'll check again tonight, but pretty sure they were there.

You'd think so... if they are then I think the got 'dropped' in the PDF release!

I mean, they credit the 'Siege Engine' and have a bunch of special thanks and there is even a dedication to Gary. Try and find who editing or did the seems to be a different challenge entirely.

Of course, if no one is willing to take credit, I'll be happy to accept it on their behalf.

To the best of my knowledge all the art was Peter with a little by Johnathon Walton.

The layout was all Peter.

I don't believe Peter added any of that to the acknowledgements at time of press, however, in either the PDF or print product.

We'd need Peter to chime in with the official story.

Well, the other artist was Jason Walton. But I don't think I had much to do with the freebie pdf as far as layout goes.

But its generally myself who does the layout and graphics around here.
Liz has been handling Crusader and a few other bits that Steve's been sending her way.

Thanks you two... in this case, I'm talking about the full Star Siege product as opposed to the freebie. However, now that you mention it, I should take a look at the freebie just to see if additional credits were attributed in there. With layout and art now being attributed, the only question I have left is regards to the editing. Was there a particular person who held the role of editor with this project or did Josh do all the work there?

Yes, I did all of the editing.

I know you're not supposed to, but the product cycle didn't allow much else.

I'd like to think I did a pretty good job, and the Errata thread seems to back me up.

You did do a good job with it... I think it's possible to come along and 'self-edit' ones work but I think there are very few who can do it well. If you acted as both author and editor here, know that you successfully beat those odds.

Thanks for all the info!

I was honored to be in the credits. Tyler "Drake Caillo" and "Rook" the android" Morrison. Rook, of course, was inspired by "Bishop" from Aliens. hehe It was a fun play-testing session. My friend ended up running an Aliens/Starship Troopers-type bug hunt. We made a small military-grade dune buggy of sorts. We fought 40 of the buggers(with no counters) and combat was quick. Good times.

Yep... I'm in there too under my actual name. It was certainly interesting. One of my players and I spent some time trying to build stuff and just playing a few things out.
