LotR: Conquest

Post by DangerDwarf »

PIcked this game up for the PS3 and been giving it a go. Pretty cool concept and gameplay is fun enough but it's falling short in some regards to me.

The game has a lot of potential but I just wish they would have made the battles more in depth and longer lasting. I enjoy when I play it but expected so much more.

I was thinking of picking up the game for the XBox but I've been hearing the mixed things about the gameplay. The one plus side was the ability to play the bad guys was a good selling point but not enough for me to give them some cash. I thought this might be a more of a rental thing or bargain buy than a full price investment.

If I had a system to play it on, I would wait until EB Games had it in the used section and get it for 25 - 40% off. Maybe even more.

Can you even play as the Witch-King?

I actually found a video game I'm enjoying, Blazing Angels on the wii. My son and I have spent a great deal of time shooting down nazi planes!

After beating the main campaign you can play the Rise of Sauron campaign. First scenario has the Nazgul racing back to Mount Doom to kill Frodo before he destroys the ring. You play the role of a Nazgul and find the Witch King's mask, after returning it to some forge the Witch King is revived and you have the option of playing him through the rest of that scenario.

Killing Frodo as the Witch King was kinda fun.

Coincidentially, I just started playing Lord of the Rings Online. It's pretty dang sweet.

I looked at Conquest, but wasn't impressed for some reason I now can't recall.

Sounds cool, DD. Or, potentially anyway. Though, it might be better if it was an infinite unlock, rather than one "level" or "scene" or whatever.

It is unlocked infinitely once you beat the "good" campaign. It has a series of scenarios, just don't know how many, only played the first 2 in the Rise of Sauron campaign. The Nazgul one and the 2nd one you choose an orc class (which mimic the good classes) and assault some place with Faramir as the dude to defeat.

I think so as well. Once I get re-employed, I will reactivate my trial account and play in earnest again...

Indeed. I just recently found the greatness that is LotRO and I'm sorry it took me so long.

As far as Conquest goes, based on some of the posts here, I will definitely give this one a second glance.

I'm enjoying it but I'd recommend waiting for the price to go down on it. It's a good game, just not a $50+ good game.
