Hey Trolls! Missing stats in A4 & A5?

Post by K2h2m3 »

I can not find the stats for Baron Dietbold Heimer in A4. I also can not find the stats for Deuranimus in A5. Before anyone jumps on me I realize I can make the stats for both NPC's myself. I'm just really curious why the stats for both important characters were left out.

Thread necromancy
I was puzzled by this to. As A4 seems to assume the players will eventualy confront Dietbold.

I think the real reason is Steve was either drunk or in the throes of a serious hang over when he edited this module.

I believe the "official" reason given is that Steve didn't see a reason to do a write up since it was 98% likely he wouldn't be used as written anyways, so only the Axe was given a write up.

Now that I am trying to dredge up my old memories on this I think the official answer was actually, "Oops!"

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Alright....but what about Deuranimus in A5? IIRC you must encounter him to get through the adventure. There is also a very high probability it will end in combat.

I haven't seen that brought up before on the boards, and I haven't read it either because nwelte may use it for our Sunday game and my own "A series" campaign is well beyond A5 now, they are going into Aufstrag itself now.

Dietbold is easy enough to stat out though, 6-7th level fighter equiped with the Fell Axe.

Dietbold wasn't really a major issue. It was more disbelief that his wife has stats but he doesn't. Frankly if just a class and level range had been given I'd be fine with it. Again I believe Deuranimus is more of an issue.

Yeah, that non-combatant NPC's are statted is kind of strange.

Okay just picked up A6. It does seem strange that Deuranimous dosn't have stats, he liable to be homicidal when the players encounter him. This one's easy though, he's at least seventh level to be able to cast redemtion, and he seems kinda frail so he's probably going to rely on his spells. This is probably a battle where the players are going to have to negotiate rather than fight they're way through.

I'll ask Davis about this. On the druid I'm pretty sure that was intentional because he's insane. On Dietbold I'm not sure. I think he's supposed to be in there.

But I'll ping him.
