New Player

Post by J-Star »

Hey all,

I used to play AD&D, 2nd Ed. in high school & college and recently switched to C&C. Of all the newer, "D20" derived games it's definitely the best spiritual successor to OD&D/AD&D.

Anyway, I played in an online C&C campaign last summer using OpenRPG but our CK had to shut down in the fall, so I'm looking for a new game.

If anyone is starting a new gaming group or has room in an existing game, please drop me a line sometime.

EDIT: If anyone decides to run a Haunted Highlands game, definitely get ahold of me!

J-Star - what time zone are you in, and what days or times are good for you to play?

I am in the Eastern time zone, and pretty much limited to weekend times... Friday night thru Sunday evening.

There are games on Friday and Sunday I know you can join. The Firday game is informal. We don't know until any given Friday if we are going to play, who is going to play.

Sounds promising... who can I talk to about joining any of these games?

Also, what do these games run on? I've mostly just used OpenRPG to this point, but I can download and learn other apps.

Hey J-Star, sorry I had to cancel that game way back before you could all arrange Arvin's gruesome death. Work was just piling up too quickly during that time.

Nowadays, people here often use a combination of Skype ( http://www.skype.com ) (microphone/headset sold separately) and MapTools ( http://rptools.net/ )

Hey man, it's all good. Would've been fun to take out Arvin though... that guy was making our game almost unplayable, lol.

I've heard of skype. MapTools I'll have to familiarize myself with.

Treebore ran Haunted Highlands for me ages past, and it was a freakin' blast.

Loads o' games runnin' all the time on these boards...

Your best bet might be to set up a SKYPE account -it's free- and pop in on a conversation, etc. as we all tend to swim in overlapping circles.

My SKYPE name's:

kuotoan

Cheers

I just might do that.

I wonder if it would also make sense to join the CNC Society?

The cncsociety is just a formal membership with a dedicated website. Unfortunately we members haven't done much with it, except a select hand full that have put together 3 issues of a digital magazine, with a 4th on the way.

J-Star. If you get SKYPE set up, you can listen in to my game Wednesday night. Myself and 5 players set in Forgotten Realms. Game starts at 7:30 EST. Slimy, who posted above, is in that game. My SKYPE name is lordseurek if you are interested.

Thanks for the tips everyone...

Most weeknights though, I don't get home till almost 9 PM, EST. So I probably won't have time to set up skype till the weekend.

Hopefully starting next week I can look to join a game.

We usually don't start until 9:00 PM EST, because thats 6 PM my time. You easterners have to wait for us Westerners to get home from work and have dinner first.

In fact, I am running my Tuesday game right now if you want to start up SKYPE and Maptools (version .52 tonight) and listen in and start getting a feel about how it goes.

Much appreciated... unfortunately I have some things I need to attend to, so I won't be able to listen in.

In fact, most weeknights I'm not even home till almost 9 PM EST, so your game slot won't be viable for me.

As much as I hope to get in a game, I'm limited to Friday night thru Sunday for anything regular.

J-Star, if you get home around 9 pm EST on Tuesday nights, you could listen in to Treebore's game. That's our start time for me and we play to around midnight, give or take a few minutes. Or you could check out Nwelte's every other Sunday game. We start at 7 pm EST. Just a few options that seem to fit your schedule.

Hmm... 9 PM to midnight is pushing it a bit since I work the normal 9-to-5 shift.

Maybe I can listen in to part of the game next Tues and take it from there.

I'm sure Tree and the rest of the group wouldn't mind. My Skype ID is Rigon4073.
