The 501st @ Troll Con?

About a week ago, I was contacted by one of the local Arkansas Fan force members about the upcoming TrollCon. To be honest, and please forgive me, but this was the first time I had ever heard of Troll Con (please put down the pitchforks and torches)... I've gamed in the past.. mostly D&D when I was younger. But I was intrigued to find out more about Troll Con and what it all entailed. My friend had filled me in the best he could with location and dates, and that this Con would mostly cater to games and gamers- but there had been talk about the possibilty of having the 501st there as well. Not much details on that... but I was really excited about having a real, genuine Con here in Little Rock! Just about anytime a Con was close was either in Dallas or Memphis... never in Little Rock! *gasp* Yes, there was RokCon- but that died out a while back.

So... with that in mind... I'd like to, at least, offer up this small proposal about having (or at least trying) to have a small, Imperial presence there for this Con and to support it the best we can. I know... I know. Stormtroopers and gamers? Trust me. If we can go to an Anime Con... I think we'll fit right in. With no intentions of taking over ...unless your a Rebel Sympathizer.
I can't gurantee an exact #...but I'd say at least 5 or so...maybe.

Ideas? Suggestions? Any comments on this?

I've tried contacting Mr. McBain with email and PM, but have not heard anything. I didn't want to jump the gun, but I need any information on planning.... and if we would even be welcome.

Sorry i haven't gotten back with you Tracy. My day job has kept me from really focusing on TC. I'm talking with Steve now about you guys being at Troll Con, but all indications look good currently. We really just need to sit down and chat in the near future to hammer out all the details.

I'll be in touch with you in the next day or so and we'll get together.

My son is a much bigger Star Wars fan than I am. I'm sure he'd be thrilled to see some stormtroopers.

Working on getting as many as we can from Arkansas.

I don't know how big the area is that will be used for TC...but

it would be really cool to have more 501st members from out of state be there to support TC. But that's a big order so I am not sure if it would

fly with the event coordinators with TC. Don't want to seem like

we're there to "take over" if you know what I mean. Some have

felt that way in the past, so ... yeah. I want to avoid any hard feelings.

Welcome to the boards!! I'm Steve Chenault of Troll Lord Games.

No worries on not hearing about TC. We let the show fall to the wayside for several years and have only just picked it back up and are giving it our full attention. So with that we are only just now getting the word out.

We want everyone who enjoys games and gaming, and even beyond to come out to the show. I would love to see the 501st join the fun.

I want Troll Con to become a convention where all the hobbies come to gather: RPGs, card games, sci-fi, comics...the works. Though I primarily play in role playing games, I'm a huge comic book fan and love sci fi!

So with that in mind I'm really glad to hear you guys are thinking of coming out!

On a personal note: I've been drug full force into the world of Star Wars by three youngsters that are batty over it. Not a day goes by that I don't argue with my two oldest (under 10) about who is the better jedi, Luke or Anakin.

haha Yeah i went with that until Rachel told me that Obi failed to train Anakin properly, he was warned by the council, but he went to the dark side anyway.

I don't know how many out of state 501st members we can get... probably not many if at all due to the economy. But I can ask and hope for at least a few? I can't gurantee Femtroopers...LOL Seems they are few and far between around here. I appreciate the support, and I hope as well, that TC can take off really good and have a lot of success. Especially when it's held here in Little Rock. An all around Con would be cool .... something I feel that would ROCK and is desoperately needed.

The "official" game schedule for Troll Con VII is currently being complied and i hope to have it posted by the beginning of May. Of course it will be subject to change, but at least this way it will give everyone a good idea of whats on tap.

I'm definetly looking forward to this Con.

I was at the MS walk here in Little Rock last Saturday,

walking in my Stormtrooper, and someone came up to

me and introduced herself- asking if I was 501st...

and then said her husband was a part of TrollCon.

Sorry I can't recall her name.... but anyway, she

said her kids were really excited about the Con

and seeing some of the 501st there.
