Any input on D1 Chimera's Roost?

Post by Lord Dynel »

Anyone play through this, or have any thoughts on it? I haven't perused it, yet, and I wanted to see if I could get any input as I know nothing about it. What setting is it? Are there any more modules planned for the series?

EDIT: I saw the thread a few down from mine, but it didn't go into any great detail, so I made this one.

Fairly certain it is setting nuetral. I'll have to pull it off the shelf and give it another look through. I'll let you know then.

This is a module I picked up as part of a large order and in the mix of it all it got forgotten by me.
Looking through it now seems to be a pretty solid module. What appears to be a simple crawl to root out goblin problems turns out to be much more involved and involves a band of trolls and even a demon.

The maps are pretty damn sweet too.

Yeah, iut also is designed to be dropped in to any setting.

Gonna move this one over to the "try to run" pile.

Sounds interesting. What are the levels?

Does anyone know if there's going to be more in the "series?"

Inside states 4-6 Characters of levels 6-8.

Dunno about any further works in the series.

I'm assuming the "D" designation means Davis. Considering the other projects he's integral too, I'm guessing not any time soon.

'not anytime soon"

LOL

as it turns out, probably not but you never know. That module was put together in 3-4 days. It had been sitting around for a few years gathering dust as we were trying to put it in some type of order or something. So, i just got bored and finished it and steve printed it.

I have a few more in the same shape and each would only take 3-4 days to finish. They are in a file called Worlds of Adventure. The modules based lossely on adventures i have run in the past fall into a category of games and a setting i call "adventure world." adventure world is a completely neutral setting deisgned for one thing only, game adventures. it is pretty much devoid of structural content (in depth histories. cultures etc) but given over entirely to set piece adventuring. Sorta of a classic approach.

The Black Menagerie

The House of Unspeakable Horrors

Race to Spire Mountain

Possession of Dire's Mound

who knows. The Black menagerie is good, Race to Spire Mountain is challenging and deadly, The House of unspeakable Horrors is funny, and Possession of Dire's Mound is strange.

Much like some of the modules in the old AD&D line - not anywhere specific, just in a spot where some good ol' adventuring is about to take place!

I, for one, would love for these to see the light of day, good sir. the titles alone sound pretty cool...and I for one feel that its good to every once in a while not have a module that fits into some overarching story or massive plot. Not meaning any disrespect to those modules that do, but it's nice to have ones that are just nice little one-offs that you can throw in anywhere without too much hassle.

Ah, so the D in D1 stands for Davis's crazy ass modules number 1. Got it.

Well, I did pick it up in the recent sale, but I haven't gotten around to reading it yet. It is on the radar, though.

I have it, looks good so far, but I haven't had a chance to run it yet. Though I am planning on dumping it into my Greyhawk campaign along with Bowbe's stuff.
