Sorry guys, have to create another thread to clarify my question.
What I meant was, what is the exact damage of a bastard sword 1) used one-handed and 2) used two-handed? The PHB only gives one range, 1d10, but it does not say anything whether this applies when used one-handed or two-handed.

Well, since you want an official answer, and not Serleran's house rule, the damage listed in the book, 1d10, is for either one handed or two handed.
Generally, if you can't find anything that says otherwise, in the book, then its the number listed. Unless you want to house rule it, then you can use serleran's suggestion.

There is also another common "house rule" people seem to like: any weapon used two-handed inflicts +1 damage. That would mean the bastard sword does 1d10+1, but I feel the +1 damage is not justifiable for the loss of a shield (which can mean a large loss to AC) so I don't recommend it.
As for the 2d6 being a "house rule" it could be said it is, or it could also be a common sense argument as none of the other swords, such as long sword, say that can be used two-handed, and there already is a two-handed sword listed... but, that's not really worth arguing.

the rules
A entry for the bastard sword in the PH is meant to be a two-handed weapon that does 1d10 damage and that is it.
People coming over from prior editions sometimes have house rules like those above.
In the official TLG game, a bastard sword is 2 handed for 1d10. If used one handed, it is treated as a long sword and does 1d8.
