Knockspell is on my definite list. The guy behind it wrote one of my most favorite old school OSRIC modules. SHROOMS RULE!

Heck, I have to look at the actual module to even remember its title. Anyone who has read, ran, or played it knows what mod I am talking about though.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

I know which one you are talking about. And yeah the author was a real fun guy.

Does Fight On! or Lulu offer any kind of subscription service? I'm really tempted to pick up some copies... I have heard nothing but good things from fans of all editions.

I've asked before...no subscription model, but it's released basically quarterly. I don't think they have a hard-and-fast release date--it's part of the whole DIY/laid-back thing they're espousing.

Not that I noticed, but one of the links in my OP is to their website. If they have a subscription program it should be there.

Thanks, Tree. I guess a subscription option wouldn't make much sense since it's from Lulu. One of these days I'll snag some print copies.

Well, whenever you get them, I would rank them best to least best. 3,4,2,1.

So get issue 3 first, IMO.

I haven't forgot about this. Hopefully I'll get around to finishing this up by Monday.

For those of you with Fight On! #3 and desiring a full map of the Map 19 the Wild North! I established a cafepress store where you can order poster size maps at various sizes.

We tried Lulu but their prices stink. Then I found Cafepress has a fairly good deal on posters.

Enjoy

YAY! More and more people are realizing Lulu sucks!
I'm happy to hear about the alternative for the map.

Okay. I just received my Fight On! Compendium.

It's AWESOME. Much better than I expected, to be honest. Reading through it right now, I can say I absolutely do not regret the purchase. Quite the reverse, actually.

Has anyone checked out Knockspell yet? (A slight pimp, since I am writing a column in KS, but I also have an as-yet-unpublished adventure in FO too).

Yes. I purchased the PDF version. I'm very satisfied with it. I really can't point out something that would have made my eyes bleed yet. If anything, it's more focused than FO! since it's definitely dedicated to the OD&D/Swords & Wizardry feel. I really can't complain since that's what I'm looking for these days.

I like your column about the one-way doors et al, as a side-note. Your chronicler bend, if you allow me the term, definitely is recognizable in that piece. It's fun to read, inspiring, and you learn a bunch of stuff about the game itself. What more can you expect, really?
