Teutini (A Setting)

Post by jdrakeh1 »

Technically a setting, Teutini is listed as a module at its new home (cncplayer.net), so I suspect that discussing it here, in this forum, will be appropriate (and there's also a thread over at ENWorld devoted to its discussion). So, what is Teutini?

Well, the word Teutini itself means "those who turn to dust" (in this instance, mortal men). The setting itself is heavily inspired by Aztec, Babylonian, and Mayan myth, fused with the basic premise of hunting giant, bestial, dragons (creatures that dwarf your typical C&C wyrm).

There are two distinct human cultures (i.e., PC races) present in the setting (the titular Teutini and their distant cousins, the tecuani). Each has its own stats, custom-milled for th setting. Likewsie, there are two new classes (Reaver and Wyrm Shaman) introduced for use with the setting, as well as some notes on where pre-existing C&C classes fit into the world of Teutini.

At the present time, the work is still in progress (the file at cncplayer.net is a preview), but the preview file contains a creation myth, an overview of the Teutini and Tecuani cultures, an overview of the setting's geography, the new races, the new classes, and a system for barter-based economies (the cultures in Teutini do not utilize currency). And still to come...

More detail on the ancient, hidden, cities of the First Teutini, rules for 'blood magic' (yes, complete with human sacrifice), stats for Ocuili (i.e., the giant, bestial, dragons mentioned earlier), and a section on advice for the CK who wants to squeeze as much adventure out of the setting as humanly possible.

So... ah.. why am I posting about Teutini here? Well, my players (great as they are) repesent only one tiny subset of gamer types out there, so I neeed feedback from other gamers as I continue to develop Teutini. If you get a chance, I'd sure appreciate if you swung by C&C Player, downloaded Teutini, and lent me your opinions (so long as you keep it constructive).

Thanks much, fellow C&C players!
