Are-kansas is the only state in the Union with Diamonds. BTW the Trolls come for diamond land.

Didn't ya know?

BTW I am hammered and Happy Mother's Day (for all ya Mama trolls).

And yes, I consider Jeff D a National Hero.

I knew. In fact I went diamond mining there back in 2003. Only found tiny ones though. Had much better luck with quartz crystals though.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Its not mined in a "mass" sort of way. Its only on a individual basis. You pay the fee, per person, and go dig for the day. I was told it is this way due to some kind of agreement with a major diamond business. I was told that the diamond is pretty rich too. People usually find a 5 ct or bigger stone every year. We found 18 tiny crystals while we were there, in one day. They were probably big enough to cut point stones.

We did much better with nice big clean crystal quartz clusters though. My best find would probably sell at a show for around $400.00. Typical retail would be around $1,000.00

I went there (Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro) when I was a kid. It was really fun to be able to look for diamonds. Being a kid, I picked up every damn rock I could find. I got nothin', but it sure was fun...

When I lived in Oklahoma as a child, one year my parents drug us down there, and I thought it would be boring, but it turned out to be pretty cool. Some family found a diamond there (most don't) and sold it back for like $500 or something... we found a bunch of quartz and glass. Still fun to dig in, though.
