Why? Why?...
...Does the preview make this look like the best sci-fi game ever?
The detail seems to be in the right places, the fat trimmed off and the game designed to encourage you to just play and have fun.
The Planet has a character sheet? That is just...somehow...awesome....
Does the real thing live up to the potential?

Those who play it seem to say so. I've read it, but have not yet decided I want to use it as the base of a game... simply because I don't want to build all the "stuff" needed. Maybe once some adventures are out, or a supplement book. But, yeah, if you like sci-fi, it's pretty slick.

Wouldn't you state as much if you thought it was?
That question has been posed on another thread -

I can't say one way or the other as I don't own it and don't play alot of sci-fi type games, but from what I've read about it from others, it seems like alot of fun!

I do, and I'm sick of bean counting and cutting out needless detail.
Most Sci-fi games I've run I've had to design my own stuff anyway, In systems with a whole lot of detail (Spacemaster, Traveller New Era, T20, Mekton Zeta) and this looks a whole lot simpler.
To be honest I'm pretty sure I'm already sold on it, am just waiting to hear back from Troll Lords about postage rates to Ireland. Next sci-fi game I run may well be SSEH.

I felt so inspired by it, I'm now thinking of a way to adapt the basics of StarSIEGE to fantasy gaming.

My favourite sci-fi game setting is the reformation coalition of Traveller New Era. A big part of the feel is the different worlds that make up the Coalition as they vie for influence on the future shape of the coalition.
So can anyone tell me what types of interactions do the rules support for Worlds? Non-war stuff. Does it do trade? negotiations? propaganda? bootstrapping (worlds helping educate/build up others)?
Thanks for any input/advice guys.
